A perfect marriage is just two imperfect people who refuse to give up on each other

It's been a dream for a woman to wear an expensive, grandiose wedding. Full of decorations in the church and reception. Many guests, family, relatives, and friends. However, the one I attended was the same as mine.
Good day hive friends! What am I going to share with you today is our first sponsorship together with my husband. How lucky we are, we were chosen as sponsors in a wedding. I am not comfortable being the chosen one because we are not a seasoned couple yet someone trusts us in doing so.
It was a busy day in school when someone chatted me if I was doing good or how was I. I replied, "I am okay". She said if it was alright with me to be her Ninang at her wedding together with my husband and I replied "What? You'll be married soon?" like blah, blah, blah. She's my former student in 9th grade and just how shocked am I that she's getting married?
The invitation
The next day, her mother handed me an invitation letter to the school. Without any question, I accepted it and thanked after.
The awaited day has come, and we prepared ourselves for the wedding, a civil wedding. Where a municipality Mayor does the honor of tying the knot between the two persons.
The wedding
We were happily caught by the camera, but I forgot to take off my mask, silly me.
It was in the municipality of Tabogon where Estephanie (the bride) and Marksan (the groom) decided to hold their civil wedding. She's too young to get married because she's just turned 18. That's why I am shocked to hear the news from her. Her partner was 30+ years old, half of her age. Despite the age gap, love binds the two. As the saying goes, "Age doesn't matter".
The mayor talked about marriage, that it cannot be revoked if you don't love the person anymore, that you can return someone if he/she fails his/her obligation, and all those important matters to be noted by a married couple. I can still remember our wedding its full of encouragement and love.
After all the advice, everything's clear to the couple. They joyfully signed the marriage contract.
Had the chance to take a photo with Mayor "Dodong" Duterte. Estephanie was 8 months pregnant that's why the wedding is urgent. She came from a struggling family and her husband too. Though her husband has well-off relatives it's different when you're true family is there to witness the wedding.
These are the parents of the bride since the parents of the groom didn't come. They were in Mindanao where miles away from here. They just sent money to their son for the expenses of the wedding, this is according to the bride.
The newlywed and the sponsors.
The two pairs of sponsors came from the groom. I and my husband were invited by the bride. At first, we were a bit shy because the other sponsors has cars and all of them were professionals. I mean, I too but I felt awkward and uncomfortable. They're seasoned already and know how to act as Ninang and Ninong to them.
Friends and relatives
This time it's the bride and groom's friends and relatives. The groom placed his arms on his sister. She was the only one who attended from their family.
The humble reception
When we came to the reception, the people were busy preparing everything. It was not grand but the humility to cater to all the people who attended the wedding is all that counts. They have a small house and limited space for reception, however, it does not bother all the guests what matters most is we witness and cheer the couple as they celebrate being oneness.
These are the gifts they received from their sponsors and the people who wished them a happy marriage.
Opening of gifts
Some say opening gifts in front of people is a tradition. One or two gifts should be opened and the rest would be at the couple's convenience. The groom voluntarily opened the gifts. How happy were we they finally tied the knot as they will also witness the bountiful of life with their soon baby boy.
In life, we are not perfect nor a life of being husband and wife. Even though we, the sponsors, have lapses with our partners but it's the understanding, reconciliation after misunderstandings, patience, and of course everlasting love.
Most of the pictures are from the bride
That's it hivers! Thank you for reading this far. I know some of you here can relate and please share it in the comment section if you have one. Keep safe and God bless us always😊.
