Philippines! My country, my duty, to make it drug-free!
A motto that the Battle Against Drugs team hold since it was founded. They aim to educate young learners on how illegal drugs can affect our bodies. They came from Cebu City and spared time just to be with us. We're lucky enough that we were visited by these high-ranked people with the help of the husband of Mommy Jane, who is one of the members of BAD.
As Barkada Kontra Droga (BAKODA) Coordinator in school, I was tasked to initiate the activity for the betterment of our students especially since we already have senior high school students who are prone to illegal drugs due to temptation. Some preparations we made just to make this activity a successful one with the help of my BAKODA officers and fellow teachers.
These men are members of BAD but their good people. How ironic the abbreviation is? They educate students as well as the leaders in our community. They were also partnered with the Philippine National Police who shared the same goal and vision.
The first speaker was Mr. Vincent Bartolata, the Vice-president of Battle Against Drugs and also the Admin. He talked about the Different Types of Drugs. Before he started talking about his topic, some giveaways he was able to distribute some whenever students can answer his questions, with this, students were attentive and participative with his topic. Students love rewards, especially the things that they can use.
The activity was participated by the Grade 4 to Grade 12 students and they were more than 300 in attendance. It's happy to see how attentive they were as the speaker went on with his topic.
Next speaker is also the Vice-president of BAD and he is more on the operation, Mr. Nestle Von Confreros. He talked about the Dangerous Effects of Drugs. He showed the face of a person of the same age who has taken drugs and the other one is not. Also, the same person has the "before" and "after" of his face. There were pictures he showed of how terrible abusing drugs is. The reaction of students cannot be painted on their faces.
The Tabogon Police arrived in the middle of the discussion with the second speaker and they were in a hurry due to some appointment on that day. We were lucky that they showed up and spared a little time for us, Police Patrol Man Sir Aron Casas, who shared his insights and support for the drug symposium in our school.
Last but definitely not least, Rev. Dr. Fedelito G. Racal, the Provincial Director of BAD tackled the Deliverance of illegal drugs. We were moved by his words of FAITH. I know students felt how truthful and solemn he speak. I am certain that students who participated in this activity will not commit any harm that will cause danger to their life.
It's now time to give an Award of Appreciation to our Guest Speakers who shared their expertise. The award was given by our school principal, Madam Rica. We are forever grateful to these men for a sparing time at our school even without a tip from us due to the scarcity of budget. Still, they're here to meet and educate our students.
The event will not be complete without food served. This is our way of expressing our heartfelt gratitude to them. Thank God that they liked the food we prepared.
