Today I wanna share my experienced in officiating basketball game in one of the most messy basketball court in Cordova, Cebu. There are some basketball courts in Cordova in which the basketball court is also the road for residents . In your place , maybe you have also this venue in which the vehicles pass by.
On May 11, 2026, I was assigned to officiate championship games in Buagsong , Cordova, Cebu. This place became barangay in 1863 . The term Buagsong is derived from Local phrase , "Buhat-Song", meaning, working together. Barangay Buagsong is famous for "Bakasihan ", or saltwater eel. A lot of people going there to buy that" bakasi ".
It was my first time to officiate basketball games in that place . When I arrived the venue , I was shock because the court is very messy, crowded and it is the only road for residents there to pass through .
During the game, we the referees were doing the two jobs , such as referee and traffic enforcer at the same time . I described the venue as the messy basketball court because everytime there were vehicles that passed by, we would stop the play during off the ball and let the vehicles pass .
There were 3 scheduled games , game 2 of the best of three . Residents there had a lot of fun watching the games . Others were betting for their favored team. The games were so closed and the people really loved it .
The third game , 16 under category was so intense with a very closed scores of both teams . The game ended with 1-1 and the next game schedule ,game 3 ,will be the deciding game to determine the champion .
