Reflections on my Hive journey
Hello Hive friends. I hope that you are all doing well. With the continuous falling price of Hive, it has crossed my mind a couple of times asking myself if I had made the wrong decision to invest my time and effort here. If, this is one of the places where I should continue placing my trust online for the next five, ten years or more. After all, I am here for the long term, not because of the tons of the money I have earned from here (in fact, I have not earned more than coffee money...), but because I like it here.
Everyday is Hive Power Up Day!
First of all, I am powering up 116.537 Hive so that I can increase my Hive Power. I have been focusing more on adding to my HP these days; with the goal of 10,000 HP by the end of next year, which is double the amount of my 2025 HP goal. In hindsight, I missed the time to accumulate HP at the onset of the Hive blockchain in 2020. The current bear market makes it possible for me, with limited funds intended for Hive, to build up my bag. Risky? Absolutely. But this is really part of life. Since we don't know what will happen tomorrow, we can only speculate in this case.
Looking back, Moving forward
Going back to my topic. The games, blogging platform, defi and Hive Engine tokens and occasional on-chain drama provide great entertainment and a little income for me. Yes, it is a very small income that will not replace a normal nine to five job income. For now, because of the small amount I've invested in it, it doesn't add up to something significant. I would like to add on to my investment here, but because of the recent issues happening, I held back and had to reevaluate my position: are my funds (however small it may be) "safe" here? do I add, subtract or stay with what I currently have?
Looking back at how I found Hive, it was because I was looking for a decent blogging platform, with a good community of like-minded people, and a chance at earning some tokens for when I go out and chill at my favorite coffee spots while creating content. It is still the same as when I got to know about Hive; and, more...
Because I already had a few years' worth of experience here, it is my belief that this is still a good place to be in, to host my content, engage with like-minded people, and earn a couple of bucks a week. Yes, I am frustrated that the price had gone down, but this can also be an opportunity for me to add on to my bag and just accumulate as much as I can and wait for the time when the price eventually reverse course and start to go back up again. It usually does.
High risk, high reward
As with all assets and trading, the only thing we can expect is that the price never stays the same. So, with all the fear, uncertainty, and doubt starting to creep in, I'd say that this is a great time. Yes, this is an optimistic take on the state of our beloved blockchain, for sure. But I'd rather be optimistic than the opposite, because if my view of Hive was more negative than what it already is, then I might already be powering down and putting the value somewhere else: a stable coin, a token with a larger market cap or just convert it to fiat and let inflation take its course.
Final Thoughts
As in everything, it is all a matter of perspective and informed decision. So, no I am not yet leaving Hive. On the contrary, I am powering up another batch of my liquid Hive to show my support to the blockchain. After all, HF28 just happened and this might be an auspicious time to invest by showing commitment. I do add fiat capital from time to time. Not a significant amount, but I'd like to add on larger amounts moving forward. It's a good opportunity for me. And the thinking behind this: this can either go very well or very bad for me. And, I can only cross my fingers and hope for the best case scenario to happen. After all, the thing about hive is that there are a lot of very smart people doing the hard work behind the scenes. So, thanks to the core devs for putting in the effort to position us for more success. I'm looking forward to happy times in the years to come.
And that's it for today's blog.
