My best friend who lives in Cebu is getting married, our other best friends and I were invited to her upcoming wedding so everyone decided to save up for a trip to Cebu.
I had an early flight scheduled together with my preggy best friend and we need to be checked in at 6:15 am which means we have to travel by dawn going to the airport because it’s far away from Cagayan de Oro city and we don’t want to be stuck in traffic,
We decided to stay at a motel near the terminal for easy access to the vans going to the airport and D’morvie suite was the closest and the cheapest one for a several hours of stay.
the funny situation when we checked in was waiting for the air condition to cool our room, we waited like 20 minutes for it but it was still blowing hot air, it was a sauna in there!
I went out and talked to the receptionist about it normally, in situations like this, the guests are advised to change rooms, instead, they suggested a change of aircon,
I was surprised and amused at the same time in my mind I was like,
“oh? first time experiencing this 🤣”
I was just laughing telling my best friend about it when I came back in the room, I wanted to see if it was possible, and voila .. it was ~ Nyahaha
OFF TO THE AIRPORT
my preggy friend slept because she needed the rest and as for me I just stayed up to monitor the time, because if I sleep, I’m afraid I’d wake up late and miss our flight
I woke my friend up at 3 am because we still have to prepare to go to the terminal to ride a van going to the airport
we rode a cab and told the driver to go to the terminal, he asked if we were headed to the airport, we said yes and he offered if could take us there,
I was reluctant at first because the meter might charge big, but I asked him how much will it costs to get there, and he said maybe around 500 pesos, I was surprised because it’s a cheap price and I said
“ why don’t we fix the price and make it 600 pesos “ and he agreed of course,
It’s not much of a loss because the fair in the van was 299 pesos per head going to the airport plus taking the taxi will cost around 50 pesos going to the terminal and
Imagine the convenience of riding a taxi, comparing it to a van with other people around right? so it’s all good.
we arrived earlier and had to wait for our check-in schedule.
While waiting… a rare thing happened,
excuse the haggard face coz’ i haven’t slept yet
anyways,
I took my glasses off and was wiping them with my microfiber cloth and saw a person excited and happily running towards our location, I didn’t see her clearly because I have blurry vision and can’t see far even though I thought it was a friend from one of the people who sat on the benches, I got surprised when that person called out and said “Momshie” yep it was my friend after all, hahaha she calls me momshie because I'm like a mother to her back when we used to work at the same organization, and I call her “nakshie”.
I haven’t seen her for 3 years, and it’s so rare for us to see each other in an airport, she’s always inviting me to go to her place which was cebu the last time I got news from her and now she’s living in manila and insisted me to visit her there, she was the 4th person to tell me to go to manila this year, I’m so curious as to why people keep on telling me to go to manila.
I already had thought of living there before because my line of work is there, but I still choose to work from home, realizing it now, my reason for not living there before, is I had a partner who I can’t leave in Mindanao, but now that I'm single and because of this coincidence I’ll be taking it as a sign to go to manila and visit the place let’s see what the place have for me, ( bet it’s the traffic again, jk) hahaha although I’ll probably just do the usual Art gallery hopping and meeting my close friends there.
waiting to board the plane
my friend got ahead of us because it was already her flight schedule, I kept on receiving a notification from my hiveph friends who lived in manila that there was a storm coming, I thought of my friend earlier, hoping her flight was okay and worried with my other best friend whos traveling manila to cebu too.
It’s not my first time riding a plane but this time I was having anxiety because 1 week before the flight I watched a compilation of accident videos of airplanes on TikTok and when the plane flew I told myself “calm down it’s just a one hour flight, just sleep, just sleep”. 😆 my fault for watching it really but my curiosity made me do it. hahaha
after landing, we waited for this beautiful lady best friend who was arriving from manila, let’s call her yam, and asked her if her flight was okay cause there was a storm, she wasn’t aware of it, she only knew when I told her about it and she later received a message from NDRRMC, she laughed because she knew it from me and I'm not even living in manila, ( thank you to hiveph members for the info hahaha) but yeah she was thankful her flight was okay,
selfie because we miss each other due to a long-distance friendship after high school
the bride picked us up, and lots of how are you and hugging happened ~
invitation cards
The groom is a pilot and my best friend works in the airport so the concept of the invitation makes sense ~ a passport
we stopped by Ayala mall because the bride and groom had to buy chocolates for their giveaways,
I said something funny that's why they laughed charot clown yarn candid Kuno
PUNGKO PUNGKO SA FUENTE
after buying all the stuff needed at the mall, we were hungry and had our lunch here in pungko pungko sa Fuente,
the groom suggested eating here, he said a cebu trip is not complete if we don’t experience this,
I was amazed by the setup,
at first, I thought it was a boodle fight kind of eating, like everything in front, should be eaten,
thought of how would we finish all of that, turns out we just have to pick how many pieces we want to eat and place them on our table,
the groom picked different kinds of fried foods for us, my favorite was the meat inside the crab shell
busog lusog
their sauce was very delicious too which makes you want to eat more,
the place became my favorite, so I’ll come back to cebu to eat here again with the rest of the gang.
after our lunch we headed to the groom and bride's house, we get to stay for a night, and while resting
we helped them with their wedding giveaways while chatting and catching up with everything
picture before sleeping
we made ourselves comfortable in the guest room and had a good night's sleep
MOVING TO A NEW PLACE TO STAY
the bride and groom rented a place for all their guest from Bukidnon
I think they found this on the Airbnb app, the address was peace haven 168-B maria Christina ext. cebu city, the place was big and had a lot of rooms, perfect for a group or barkada trip
we were also allowed to use the kitchen if we want to cook and they have free candies too ~
the place was so cozy to stay in
Found a computer station, and I asked the caretaker if we can use it, she said all the guests are allowed to use it, but it was broken, so we asked if we could move the keyboard to the back and try to work here, and she agreed so yey, did some draft this day.
Night came and we had to pick our other best friends, who are scheduled to arrive this night, we planned to meet in Robinson Fuente,
One thing I noticed about the place was there were so many beggars, comparing it to Bukidnon and Davao city we only have a few, told about it, and she said it’s only in mango avenue,
and what amazed me so much was a beggar speaking English and very fluent at that! sorry but the ones i know or seen only speaks bisaya or their own language (if native), and it wasn’t a foreigner either
In mind i was like “IS THIS A SOCIAL EXPERIMENT OR SOMETHING” I looked around to see if there’s someone recording it but there wasn’t any or maybe they are just good at hiding,
that left me wondering 🤔 and curious because it feels like there’s a story behind why that beggar ended up like that or is it just normal here or I'm just very ignorant,
nag cebu na gyud ang all
so the gang is finally complete! i can already imagine the noise in our room because we joke a lot,
After picking up and meeting the other gang, it was getting late and we had to go back to our bnb to get some shut eye, since we have an early activity the next day for Bridal shower and birthday!
And this post is getting so long now and i dont want bore you guys out! So I will be ending my post here and split this adventure into two parts, make sure to stick around for the second part, I got a Kinky surprise for everyone! HEHEHEHE 😏
