As I posted here, I A went out for quick grocery shopping in preparation for the incoming super typhoon Uwan. It was only few supplies as so far I had enough food at home that will last for days. The last time I experienced strong typhoon here was last year month of October. It takes a week without water and days before the water is restored.
I know that when the wind becomes stronger the power will be interrupted. So I ate dinner as early as four. After I gave my son Caleb a quick bath and so I. It was early but I was almost ready for bed time.
At four the heavy rain started to fall and the rain gutter in my sister in-law's house fell. Six in the evening, mother in-law arrived (she sleeps here every night.)
Earlier that day, my thankful brother-in-law cleaned our rain gutter. There are some twigs or leaves stocked due to previous rains. I was somehow relieved.
Past six the power supply was cut yet I am not worried as all emergency lights are fully charged as well as power banks. I had a toddler so I need to be alert and ready.
We just spent time having conversation while playing with Caleb and at seven we decided to go to bed. My son instantly fell asleep but not me.
It was eight when the rain started to go stronger accompanied with heavy rain. Not so long ago I heard a loud bang on our roof. Might have fallen .
This is one of those times that I can't help but to feel worried. It was only me and my one year old son and our province was in signal no.3. Yes, MIL was here but she is already old, 72yrs to be exact. If worst happened I couldn't rely on someone as my in-laws also had family and kids. Of course that's their priorities.
The signal was on and off but at ten one of my sister in-law chatted in our GC that their roof was blown away. Not all but a portion. Their house was two stories tall so they decided to move to the ground.
I thought they would be coming over in ours but they chose not as rain is still pouring hard. They had four kids.
All throughout the night, I was cuddling my son as his loud bangs woke him. Also, I was praying that our roof won't blow.
Thank God my prayers were answered. When I woke up today no damaged in our home.
It's only the hardiflex that we used to temporarily seal so cats and any animals won't go inside.
The porch was also dirty but not much. Overall, we are good but;
This is what happened to my sister in-law's house. Their roof was steel trusses but still the strong wind blew two. Maybe since it was high?
Thankfully the carpenter was easy to call and it was done before this day ended.
So far, there is only a little damage in our neighborhood as far as I know. That was something to be grateful for. Still, my heart aches for those who lost anything during the typhoon.
