Hi my dear friends and fellow hivers here in the wonderful community of ! How are you all today? I hope everyone are doing fine right now. This is me again, "LJ" to share another life story to y'all.
Last Friday, and as always, I felt that little spark of relief knowing it was the last day of the work week. There’s just something about Fridays that instantly lifts your mood. Maybe it’s the thought of resting, or maybe it’s simply the joy of closing another busy week. At school, we had INSET, so the atmosphere was a little bit lighter than usual. We non-teaching staff, were given snacks (pancit and bread). A simple snack but it tasted extra good because eating together with workmates always makes things feel more special.
After I finished eating, one of my coworkers came up to me and said that the “Miss Universe 2025” finals were already happening. She suggested we watch it on her phone, since she found a facebook livestream. So even while were busy, we kept sneaking glances at the screen, cheering as the constestants walked, waved and answered questions. Moments like that remind me how small shared interests can bring people together, even in the middle of the work.
Around 11:30, it was lunchtime, and again, we were given food. This time a full meal. We had igado and lumpia, and for dessert, fruit salad. The combination made the lunch feel a bit festive, almost like a mini celebration at work. While eating we continued watching Miss Universe, our plates full and our eyes shifting between food and the competition. It felt funny and cozy at the same time, like we were having our own little viewing party inside the school.
As the results unfolded,my coworker and I couldn’t help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. We were hoping so hard for the Philippines to win. There’s always that special pride whenever the country reaches the stage. A sense of unity that you can feel even when you were just watching from a small phone screen. When the final placements were announced, we felt a bit sad that the Philippines did not take home the crown this year.
But even then, we were still happy and proud because she made it to the Top 5. She also got the Third place and that is still a huge achievement, and seeing her shine on the international stage made our hearts warm. We ended up talking about our favorite moments from the show, the gowns we liked, and how confident she looked throughout the competition. It became one of those simple but memorable bonding moments that color an ordinary workday.
And that's it for today's blog! Thank you for droppin' by and reading my simple life story. I hope to see you on my next one. Have a nice day ahead to all of us!
