I started my day with a very hectic morning because it was Monday, which is why there were also many patients. By 8 a.m., many people were already lining up for their checkups. I was honestly shocked at how many patients were there. If I had to estimate, we were able to accommodate around 20 or even more.
I felt overwhelmed by the number of patients we handled. It was hard and exhausting, but at the same time, it was also joyful. I saw many babies, and I tried to make them smile. It made me happy whenever some of them smiled back or made little sounds as if they were talking.
I was also glad that we did not encounter any grumpy patients. Some of them became a bit impatient because the line was moving slowly, but it was understandable since they had been waiting for a long time. Still, no one really got mad at the doctors or staff.
Before lunchtime, or around 10 a.m., many patients started to go home because they still had a long way to travel. The line at the RHU even reached the entrance of the birthing center. Some patients asked what time they should come back, and we told them to arrive before 1 p.m. since it was on a first-come, first-served basis. Imagine, it was also raining very heavily at that time, and the wind was very strong as well.
In the afternoon, there were fewer patients coming in for checkups. However, we met some students from SRNHS along with a teacher who had their vital signs checked for their medical certificates.
Today was very tiring, but it was also a meaningful experience. I learned how important patience is in a busy health center.
