I would like to tell you about my experience of the earthquake that occurred in Northern Cebu. It was an earthquake of 6.9 magnitude that occurred on the 30th of September. I tell you all shock that night round 10-pm. It was so scary. Quite a number of individuals were horrified and traumatized due to such abrupt motion. The dogs themselves were jumping and barking about, and even did so. Everyone can be afraid and did not know what to do.
The earthquake left behind a number of frightened, hungry and anxious families. There was destruction of houses and lack of food and clean water by many individuals. But I am so grateful since there were the donors who came to rescue and provided them with the food package and bottled water.
On the messenger we are chatting, I noticed the following message Anapog, one of the areas to which the donations were received. Not many people, however, visited it as it is rather distant and difficult to access, we say sudlonon. However, I would volunteer and accompany them to obtain the food packs. I would have liked to do what was most desired.
I am grateful that the Department of Psychology managed to coordinate the donations, and ensured that the assistance was delivered to the people. I would also like to thank my papa who was driving and helping me to carry and assist in the goods. Had it been without him I should not have gone right up there.
I could clearly tell how sad and tired people looked when we got there, however, when people got the food and water, their tears fell into smiling. It was an extremely real feeling and touching. However, despite the fact that help was minimal, it gave them comfort and hope.
It was the same day when I remembered that always it is very important to be nice and to assist other people when they need something. Regardless of how insignificant your act might be, it at least may change the life of a person. It is a happy thing to be able to help others and no money can achieve it.
I am very happy that I got an opportunity to serve and be kind in the hard situation. We can see that the earthquake shook our houses, however, it woke our hearts to take care of each other.
