Hola, lovely Hivers!
In this blog , I'll share a glimpse on how we celebrated a family member's special day. It wasn't a big or elegant occasion, just something simple but meaningful, and full of happiness – that's the most important thing for any event we create.
My sister's birthday is September 26, but we celebrated it on September 28 , which was a Sunday. That is the day we usually celebrate this kind of event , since my father and eldest sister are able to have a day off from work that day. And it's more fun and memorable when the whole family is together on that special day .
As usual, we helped each other with cooking, decorating and more. I helped my father cook 'Biko'. We didn't use all the latik for mixing, we set aside a little to put in a cup because it's so delicious to eat on its own! We always do that when we make Biko.
Inside the house , my sister and my other siblings worked together to put up some simple decorations. We didn't have much space, so we made the most of the area we had where a small table was placed , perfect for taking memorable photos.
We also cooked pancit, spaghetti, chicken , and salad. Our eldest sister also bought the cake that the birthday celebrant requested most .
Once all the food was ready , we put it on the table and sang "Happy Birthday" to the birthday girl. We spent a few minutes taking pictures, since some of us wanted individual shots with her. Afterward , we offered a prayer of thanksgiving before we started eating.
Birthdays are more than just dates; they're milestones of love and growth. Celebrating my sister's special day with simple joys , and cherished family moments reminded us that the true essence of any celebration lies in the love and connection we share. May each birthday be a reminder to treasure every day and find happiness in the simple moments that make life truly meaningful.
