Hi Hivers!
How are your weekdays? Back to school is fast approaching, another school year for the students and teachers, so to help them for a fresh start I participate in the Brigada Eskwela where I had a chance to volunteer in keeping the classroom clean and well presentable before the school year started.
My recent experience volunteering to clean my school for two days was unforgettable. It was an excellent opportunity to give back to my community while garnering essential skills and experiences.
On the first day of Brigada Eskwela, I was able to help my school when I was in High School (Bagong Nayon II National High School).
Sure that there's a lot of changes in this school a lot of memories as well.
The first task that I do is to help those students in decluttering and transferring bags and books from one classroom to another, it was quite challenging cause the books are too heavy plus there's no elevator that we can use so we have to lift them manually.
The first day was grueling. My arms were sore from sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing the floors. However, as the day progressed, I began to witness the progress that we were making. The once unkempt and cluttered classrooms were now clean and organized. It was gratifying to see the fruits of our labor and know that we were making a difference.
The next day, I decided to volunteer at BNII Elementary School cause as heard that they lack manpower as this school is expanding and under renovation.
On the second day, I was assigned to clean the drinking fountains. Initially, I was hesitant and somewhat repulsed. But as I began to work, I realized that it was just another task that needed to be accomplished.
Throughout the two days, I was surrounded by other volunteers who shared the same sense of purpose and drive. We laughed, joked, and bonded over our shared experience of making the school a better place.
Similar to the previous day, it was satisfying to witness the transformation of the drinking fountain from filthy and smelly to clean and fresh.
I received an unexpected reward after this volunteer work which is a free Brigada Eskwela 2023 T-Shirt
Yey! I'm so grateful!
At the end of the two days, I was exhausted but also proud of what we had accomplished. I left feeling fulfilled and knowing that my small contribution had a significant impact. Volunteering at my school has taught me the importance of community service and how it can positively influence those around us.
It is fascinating to be part of this activity and will surely participate in the upcoming year.
