The primary customers of the school are the learners. Without them, there would be no school nor a business with the teachers. But how do we show them that we really care? Let's talk about it.
Our Main Business
Reading and numeracy are basic tools that children must learn in order for them to face the world on their own when they grow to adulthood. These are the tools and weapons they can use to face challenges in life and how to make a living. Without a doubt, the school and the teachers are committed and dedicated to this noble task.
We show them that we are happy and let them feel the joy of their presence in school.
The school needs to provide access so that all school-age children will be accommodated and kept in school until they graduate. It has to give equity for every learner based on what they can and how they can do the tasks and let them grow on their own capability. School authorities and teachers need to make the schools and classrooms conducive to the teaching-learning process.
The Other Aspects
We also need to consider the physical development of the learners. So, we introduced different sports for them to play either with the goal of a sports competition or just for fun. The children enjoy it so much that it makes them excited to come to school.
But, one thing I noticed when I arrived at my new school assignment. The children need to run back to their classrooms when a sudden rain comes. , when they arrive at the school gate, they also need to run fast to their classroom so as not to get wet. That's why, I've realized their need for shelter to protect them from rain or from the heat of the sun. So, we made a covered pathway that is wide and good enough for them to feel comfortable.
This structure can be a place for them to take shelter when there are heavy rains when they're bound for home. This place is very comfortable for them to hide from the intense heat of the sun. But this is just a little example of showing them that our school really cares for them. In fact, despite a meager budget, we were still able to finish it- not in one month- but in almost five months in a row.
Other examples are some of the pictures that were geared toward the safety and well-being of our learners.
The Water Facilities
A new concrete riser has just been made to hold the stainless water tank intended for use in the Home Economics Building for the school feeding program and for regular use in the kitchen sink for cooking and dish or hand washing.
If you've noticed, the tank riser is also used as a trellis for Bitter gourd or Ampalaya in Filipino by using steel matting for easy hold of the vine veggie.
But, you may wonder why I'm talking about the safety and well-being of school children, and what I've shown you here are water tank installed on a concrete riser. I've mentioned the use of the aforementioned stainless water tank. So, to give you an idea of what our problem in school is all about in connection to water supplies, the pictures below will help you understand the difficult situation we encountered in school.
These water catchment tanks connected to the gutters of the school buildings have been used to help the school address the need for water. During heavy rains, these tanks will be full and can supply the different classrooms with their need for water in their toilets but may not be sufficient for the whole week. Every week, Bogo City's Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) provides the school with water by filling the same tanks that are connected to school building gutters or the rainwater catchment facilities. That is to complement the inadequacy or even the scarcity of rain.
Thus, we need to have a separate tank that may contain the water from the DRRMO supply for use in the sinks or lavatory- thus, keeping the safety of the school children and personnel.
The Glittering Light Ahead
But as of this time, there's an assurance from the Water District, the City's water provider, that if the bigger source intended for our area and the neighboring barangays will finally be operational, our problem for water supply will be addressed accordingly. Then, of course, if that is realized, we will be more to the advantage because of the existing water catchment facilities in addition to that plan for implementation.
So, in one way or another, I've shown you how Malingin Elementary School cares for school children in different ways.
Thank you for reading my blog. See you next time and keep safe everyone.
