Hi, Hivers!
In my previous blog, I mentioned that we visited the newest religious destination which was indeed special because we only have four of its kind around the world, only one in the Philippines, in Cebu, in Lambusan, San Remigio.
After our visit, we decided to go on a road trip until we reached Maya, the most northern tip barangay of Daanbantayan town.
I got the chance to take a photo of the facade of their church of which Saint Isidore Labrador is the patron saint, same as ours.
He is said to be the patron saint of farmers of which he inculcated the values of hardwork and firm faith. As I have heard in one of the priest's homily, Saint Isidore is the perfect example of perseverance and hopefulness, that no matter how barren you think your life is, just as how dry the field Saint Isidore farmed, plants still grow because of his hardwork. In like manner, you can still be fruitful and productive if you work on it.
We headed back home after. We enjoyed talking while we were amazed at the road we passed by. We seldom went around Daanbantayan for a road trip, so the road seemed unfamiliar. Good thing, he has Google Maps and I have Waze.
We stopped by for a while because we forgot that we brought along snacks with us. Or maybe dessert. Hehehe. He prepared a sliced dragon fruit, in cubes, and mixed it with condensed milk and all-purpose cream and had it chilled. So simple yet perfect for a hot day.
After taking our snacks, we continued driving back home. We talked, laughed, and enjoyed singing. I must admit, he's really good at singing and in music. He is definitely a musically inclined person. It was he who inspired me to play guitar.
Going back to our travel, while driving, something ignited his curiosity. There is a road leading to Medellin but it was not suggested by google map. Curious enough, he chose to pass by that road. We were welcomed by this narrow cemented road.
And he kept going until we reached here.
The road, still narrow, but this time, it is uncemented, having holes where waters from the previous downpour stayed.
I was disturbed already, not just by the road but where we are exactly.
We were in the middle of this plain, wide, and vast field. No houses around. No vehicles. No other people around.
Overthinker as I am, I was thinking what if we suddenly had a car malfunction, where will we go? If we happen to come across armed men (knocked on wood), who would help us? Anything can go wrong. Or it's just my mind which made things complicated.🤦
He felt that I am uneasy so he calmed me by narrating how good the place is, how good the view is, how he likes to raise cows and goats, and how he wanted to own a huge ricefield. (I found this funny.😂) He tells me things and encouraged me to speak out because, in that way, I can let go of any tension and feel relaxed.
Overthinking doesn't do a thing. So I let go. I diverted my attention to what he was saying and slowly, I returned to being calmed.
His acts of assuring and securing me emotionally made me trust him even more.
He uttered, "Out of nowhere..."
I continued, "...there's a lot to discover."
And we both laughed. Small happiness in life, indeed.
And finally, we reached here. This is a lot familiar. Hehehe.
And true enough, we are finally in Medellin, the famous Aisle of Medellin.
MY THOUGHTS
No matter how well we plan things, sometimes it's better to let loose and be spontaneous. There's thrill. There's excitement. There's a chance of discovering things and places. With how we ended this road trip, it also made me realize that I am always in the safest place whenever I'm with him. I don't mind getting lost because with him, I always feel that I am found.
And we're also glad we chose the other route for we found out that, just like in life, there are times we feel lost but if we keep going, we'll find our way out. Moreover, risking to experience the things we're afraid of, going out from our comfort zone will lead us to beautiful destinations, with which, it will make our journey even more meaningful.
That's all for today's blog. Thank you for reading this far. Be well. Be safe. Until the nets(next)writing.
