Kamusta? I am here again to share the recent happening in my life as a teacher and one of the highlights for this school year 2024 - 2025.
March 11-16 is date for the Central Visayas Athletic Association Meet 2025 at Bayawan, Negros Oriental, Philippines. All of the SDO's in Central Visayas participated the competition and that includes, Cebu City, Naga City, Bayawan, City, Tanjay City, Guihulngan City, Cebu Province, Talisay City, Carcar City, Danao City, Siquijor, Bohol, Toledo City, and many more.
It was an amazing experience for me as teacher since I am not the athletic type. I was the coach of 4 girls in the game: SEPAKTAKRAW.
Sepak Takraw or Sepaktakraw is also known as the ‘Kick Volleyball’. It is a team sport that is commonly played among teams of two to four players on a court resembling a badminton court. It is a combination of volleyball and footvolley as the players play this sport using only their feet, knees, shoulders, chest and head to touch the ball. When someone observes the sport for the first time it appears to be a combination of volley ball (due to the presence of net) and soccer / football (as players use their feet).

The representative of Negros Oriental is from our school, Tayasan National High School. We have 4 girls for the girls category. We also have 12 boys for their category.
These are my girls and I am proud to say that they bagged the SILVER medal (1st runner up). They fought against 14 other places in Visayas. The secondary boys bagged the BRONZE medal (2nd runner up) against 15 other places. We actually have elementary boys also from Bago Elementary School which is a hinterland. They bagged the GOLD medal and they are now bound to Palarong Pambansa at Ilocus Sur, Laoag. Amazing isn't it? All of our students bagged an award and medal to take home with them and show to their parents.
With their dedication and perseverance, they got the achievement.
This is us during the Opening program. they started with a Bang! A fireworks and it made us all feel warmly welcome in the City. Life away from home is no joke and I cannot imagine that we stayed there for 1 week.
The food is already provided so need to worry. We also stayed in classrooms. The main problem is that the competition are is far from the school we are staying and we need to travel for about 30 minutes and that made our athletes tired. But as the saying goes, "Walang sukuan" and they did it.
I am a one happy proud coach of sepaktakraw girls right here.
This actually our Mayor and his wife. The Mayor gave us 1,000 pesos each as a reward for their sweat and tears.
Thank you, Mayor and congratulations kiddos!
