Woke up really early today and went straight to the market. It’s been a while since i went there myself so i was excited to check what’s available. The air was still cool and the place was already busy with people buying and selling. It feels so good to be there early when everything is just starting.
The vegetables were so fresh! They looked really green and crisp you can tell they were picked just recently. The leaves were not wilted or anything they looked alive and healthy. It’s way different from buying in supermarkets where sometimes they look old already.
What I liked most was the price. It super cheap! Like those big red onions were only 11 pesos each? And the tomatoes were just 20 pesos per kilo? You really can’t find prices like that anywhere else. It’s such a big save especially now that everything is getting expensive.
Since they looked so good and cheap i just couldn’t stop buying. I filled my basket with different kinds of veggies squash, okra, eggplant, string beans you name it. I thought buy plenty now while they are fresh and affordable. Good for cooking for the whole week.
Walking around was fun too. There were piles of bananas different fruits and other goods everywhere. The vendors were friendly and calling out to customers and everyone was busy choosing the best items. That classic market vibe is really something you miss when you don’t go often.
I also bought some spices and other ingredients needed for cooking. Seeing all those neatly arranged baskets and piles of produce is so satisfying. You know you are getting quality stuff because you can see and touch them yourself. No need to guess if they are good or not.
There were also lots of other things to see different kinds of fruits root crops and fresh fish too. The place is really full of life. It’s nice to just walk around and see what catches your eye. You discover new things or items you did not plan to buy but end up getting anyway.
By the time i finished shopping my bags were really heavy but i was so happy. It was a very productive morning. Going to the market early is really the best way to shop. You get the freshest items the best prices and you also help the local sellers.
Now im ready to go home and cook all these delicious and healthy food. It feels great to have a full stock of fresh vegetables in the kitchen. Definitely worth waking up early for. No regrets at all.
This is why i love going to the palengke. Simple affordable and everything you need is right there. Good food good prices and good vibes. Can’t wait to come back again next time!
