This is my first ever Philippine travel post and my entry to the #HivePH Top Philippine Vacation Spots challenge.
For that year, I went home to attend an international youth conference in Puerto Princesa. I was an active member of Youth for Christ since I was 12 years old. It was my first time attending such an event due to money matters. Now that I have my own money to spend, I decided to go. And since I will be going, I was determined to bring along my family with me.
I have been there before for a school event but I wanted to share the same happiness I had, with my parents when I visited that beautiful place.
Palawan is named as one of the most beautiful islands in the world. Puerto Princesa, as people say, is the cheapest among the 3 big names in Palawan.
I went earlier before them so I can attend the conference first, so I was there 3 days ahead of them. After the event, I met my mom and dad, and my nephews at the airport. By the way, these two bouncing chubby boys are my lifeline. But they're like my own, I love them so much!
My brother and sister-in-law were supposed to join us too. unfortunately, they did not make it due to health reasons.
So anyway, on our first night together - we had dinner and made kulitan with the kids.
On the next day, our adventure began. We decided to do the Honda Bay Island tour, a 45-min boat ride away from the city center, which includes the following:
- Cowrie Island - boomerang-shaped sanctuary which has amenities for watersports activities.
𝒮𝑒𝑒 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓁𝒾𝓃𝑒 𝓌𝒽𝑒𝓇𝑒 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓈𝓀𝓎 𝓂𝑒𝑒𝓉𝓈 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓈𝑒𝒶... 𝒾𝓉 𝒸𝒶𝓁𝓁𝓈 𝓂𝑒...
- Starfish Island - named as such because of the numberless existence of small and big starfishes in the clear blue waters of the island.
- Luli Island - named because its sandbar appears and disappears (lulbog and lilitaw), depending on the tide.
It was an amazing experience. The places do not look abused despite the fact that there was a lot of tourist influx.
For our next day, to the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park to experience the very famous Underground River tour.
After an amazing experience underground, we went spelunking in Ugong Rock and zip-lining.
In the evening, we went for firefly watching in Ihawig. Photos were not allowed of course, as it needs to be very dark (no flash so not to disturb), whereby we were on a boat for a river cruise to see the wonderful sight.

To cap the night off, we had our dinner in Kinabuch's where we had crocodile sisig!
Yum!
Best sisig ever!
For our last day of tour, we went for the city tour that included:
- Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Centre (Crocodile Farm)
- Baker's Hill
- Plaza Cuartel + Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral
Matamang salamat, Palawan! It's totally a whole different experience of travel and exploration when it's shared with the family. It gives me joy and satisfaction knowing I can give my family, especially my parents, the favor of enjoyment after all.
I, therefore conclude, Puerto Princesa is one of Top Philippine Vacation Spots, and as an added bonus, it's family-friendly whereby anyone can bring everyone to take pleasure without risking or worrying everyone's safety!
And that's the wonderful thing about family travel: it provides you with experiences that will remain locked forever in the scar tissue of your mind.
Hope you enjoyed the tour with us! See you on our next destination and watch out for more travels in the Philippines 👋😎
