Hello everyone, how are you today? I hope you are doing well and looking great today! It's been a while since we haven't had any school intramurals due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After those long and stressful days, we are now here, and for the very first time, we will be making another great day for the students - Schools Intramurals. One of the most awaited events as a high school student. This day, you can share your talents and skills with everybody, while building camaraderie with each other in your team.
We had our school intramurals last November 10 and 11, 2023 respectively with four teams competing for this year - Black Shama, Yellow Sunbird, Blue Hawk, and Gold Eagle.
On the first day, we only had our opening, which was the school's parade and the introduction of teams with their unbeatable yells. You can see that from the opening day, students were eager to join the parade. Each team was assigned with different color combinations to be recognized.
The parade was led by the school's DLC members. It's lovely to look at them after many years of not hearing the sounds of the drums and not seeing the students exhibit their skills and talents in dancing to the beat of the drums and lyres.
After the colorful parade, the students were very eager to shout their yells with their teammates. It was fun and superb to hear their friendly yells for everyone. Most of the students were first-timers of this school's intramurals and it was fun seeing their genuine smiles who never had any experience at all.
All the ball games and athletic events were set on the second day. It was a bright sunny day, and all the coaches and players were so excited to start the different activities. As one of the coaches and assistant members for the athletic events, we need to be early at the venue. We need to have the runners run earlier so that the sun will not be that extremely hot on their skin.
As the runners set for their 100m and 200m run, the audience and supporters were very excited cheering on the side of the road. You can witness how excited they are cheering for their respective teams.
Teacher-coaches were also very busy on the side recording the time and being the flagman during the run. Though we requested barangay assistance for the traffic, teachers were also present to help with the athletic events' safety.
After the running event, we transferred to another venue for the throwing event. Though the sun was very hot, but students and teacher-coaches were very eager to finish everything on time and to announce the winners of the said event. Students were very excited to throw the javelin, discus, and shut-put for the boys' and girls' event. It was fun and exciting at the same time. Throwing it was not that easy. It weighs more than the usual things we do every day. The shut-put and discus throw weighed a little heavy, but some students excelled in throwing it and putting records of their best.
Teaching them the essence of camaraderie and sportsmanship during team games is also a must. For instance, in volleyball and sepak takraw sport, it is a must that we should not let them bully one another. We should teach them how to respect each other's differences. All of the teams had their strengths and weaknesses, we must be proud that they were able to show their skills and talents despite the student's inability to practice due to time constraints. Whatever the decisions of the tournament managers during the different events, we should respect them. After all, we are doing it for the name of the school.
After an event, there will always be a winner. We will not expect that all of us will be winners in the event we played, but what is most important is you share your best in the game and with your team. Being happy and enjoying the game is the best that we can do.
According to Oprah Winfrey, "Failure is another stepping stone to greatness". In every failure that we have, think of it as another way to shape you to become successful in your endeavor. All the lessons learned from every failure that we had is a challenge and an opportunity for us to become better individuals.
I hope you enjoy reading our school's intramurals. Have a nice day everyone😊
