It was a quiet in the morning when I saw my older sister lying at her bed and smiling while typing on her phone. I asked, “What are you doing?” and she said, “I’m writing on Hive.” I didn’t really know or understand what Hive was at that time. I thought it was just another app like a Facebook or Instagram. But when I saw how happy she was while writing the blog, something inside me whispered, “Maybe I can try that, too.” That simple moment became the start of a new chapter in my life.
Hello, Hiver friends! It's me writtenbyjhap but most people call me Jhap, and my entire family calls me Dooh. I’m 18 years old and I’m the second child in my family, and I think that taught me a lot about balance between patience and understanding, between leading and also following. Being in the middle made me an observer, someone who learns from both the sides. It’s not always so easy, but it helped me a lot and give a lesson to become a stronger and more thoughtful.
I’m currently a first-year college student taking a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management at Felife Verallo School. I chose this course because I love meeting new people and making them feel welcome. Because for me, hospitality isn’t just about serving others it’s about showing kindness in simple ways, like smiling or offering help. My dream is to manage a hotel or restaurant someday, a place where guests feel at home and cared for.
When I’m not studying, I spend most of my time doing the things that make me feel relax and alive. I love playing basketball with my friends, uncles, and father. The laughter, the noise, and also the thrill of the game remind me that life is better when this is shared. Basketball teaches me teamwork and perseverance that even when you fall or lose the game, you stand up and always keep going.
When night comes, I switch from the court to my favorite games the Call of Duty ( codm ) and Mobile Legends. Gaming is my way to relax and connect with friends, especially when we’re far apart. We laugh, sometimes win, sometimes lose but every match teaches me patience and also determination.
And after a long day, my favorite part is simply sleeping. It might sound funny, but for me sleep is my peaceful escape. It’s where my mind rests and my dreams grow longer. After all, even dreamers need rest to keep chasing what they believe in.
There are nights when I stay up studying and mornings when I feel too tired to move. Sometimes I ask myself, “Can I really do this?” But then I remember my family and the dreams I carry. That’s what keeps me going. My sister once told me, “Don’t rush, just slow and continued grow.” Those words remind me that it’s okay to take my time, as long as I never stop trying.
My journey on Hive started because of my sister, . She told me, “Hive is a home for people who love to share their stories,” and she encouraged me even when I doubted myself. I didn’t think I could write like her, but she reminded me that I didn’t need to be perfect, just real. When she became busy with school, she asked
to help me and with her onboarder,
, to guide and refer me. Because of their help, I was able to officially join Hive. I’m truly thankful to all of them for believing in me and supporting me from the very beginning.
Honestly at first, I felt shy and so unsure. Because writing for strangers felt scary for me. But as I started sharing little parts of my life, I realized something beautiful: my voice matters too. Each post I read and each comment I received made me feel more confident and connected.
As I explored Hive, I've met a lot of inspiring people writers, artists, photographers, and dreamers. Everyone here has their own story, and together we create a community full of kindness and creativity. Hive isn’t just a website it’s a place where people support one another, celebrate each other’s passions, and grow together.
So here I am, Jhap a student, gamer and now a proud Hiver. It might be a small beginning but for me, it means everything. Because sometimes, the best stories don’t begin with “Once upon a time.” It begin with, “I’m ready now.”
Thank you so much for reading my introduction post! I’d love to know what inspired you to join Hive too feel free to share your story in the comments. I’m excited to learn, connect, and grow with you all.
See you around, Hivers this is just the beginning!
