Good morning, afternoon and evening to all members of the Full Deportes community. Couple of weeks away from Hive for personal issues but here I am back to continue sharing with you sports opinions.
Lamentablemente, vuelvo con mala cara, pues, la selección cubana de fútbol me decepcionó nuevamente. Es normal que una selección de fútbol no logre avanzar en determinado nivel o torneo a pesar de que pasen los años. Sin embargo, por lo general existe un esfuerzo detrás de las federaciones para el desarrollo de sus selecciones, de ahí que, aun cuando los resultados no sean los mejores, al menos las batallas las enfrentan con las mejores armas con las que puede contar.
Dicho esto, pudiera decirse que está justificado el descenso de Cuba al nivel B de la CONCACAF NATIONS LEAGUE ocurrido el día de ayer (14/10/24) mediante derrota a manos de Trinidad y Tobago. Pero no es así. Si bien Cuba no se ha destacado nunca por tener equipos notables de fútbol, en la actualidad puede contar con un seleccionado mejor al que presentó en este torneo.
Unfortunately, I return with a bad face, because the Cuban national soccer team disappointed me again. It is normal for a soccer team to fail to advance at a certain level or tournament despite the passing of years. However, there is usually an effort behind the federations for the development of their national teams, hence, even when the results are not the best, at least they face the battles with the best weapons they can count on.
That said, it could be said that Cuba's relegation to CONCACAF NATIONS LEAGUE level B yesterday (10/14/24) by defeat at the hands of Trinidad and Tobago is justified. But this is not the case. Although Cuba has never been known for having notable soccer teams, they can currently count on a better team than the one they presented in this tournament.
Yo creí que el rendimiento había mejorado al empatar hace apenas unos días contra los rivales de los que fuimos víctimas. En aquel partido, jugado en mi provincia, Santiago de Cuba, se había comenzado lento en el primer tiempo, pero en la segunda mitad los cubanos tuvieron más iniciativa, encontraron mejor los espacios y de paso afilaron su puntería de cara a la puerta, logrando su primer partido con más de un gol en toda la competencia.
Ya en tierras trinitarias, me llevé una gran decepción, pues como ya mencioné, se perdió con el marcador más abultado de todo nuestro performance, en partido dónde hasta tarjeta roja se llevó uno de los jugadores cubanos. Curiosamente, fue la única derrota en todo el torneo, pero nos costó lo suficiente como para bajar un escalón grande y empezar de cero nuevamente.
I thought that the performance had improved when we drew just a few days ago against the rivals we were victims of. In that game, played in my province, Santiago de Cuba, the first half started slowly, but in the second half the Cubans had more initiative, found the spaces better and sharpened their aim in front of goal, achieving their first game with more than one goal in the whole competition.
Back in Trinidad and Tobago, I was very disappointed, because as I already mentioned, we lost with the highest score of our entire performance, in a game where even one of the Cuban players received a red card. Curiously, it was the only defeat in the whole tournament, but it cost us enough to go down a big step and start from scratch again.
Fue toda una crónica de una muerte anunciada. Ya lo había mencionado en otras publicaciones: necesitamos a los mejores jugadores con los que podamos contar, los directivos deben dejar de creerse dioses y contar con todo aquel con el nivel suficiente para estar en la selección sin tener en cuenta la ideas políticas o de otra índole que tenga un jugador. Debemos seguir sumando en el aprendizaje de nuestros coaches y técnicos, trabajar bien serio en las categorías inferiores, atender nuestro campeonato nacional del que por cierto, hace rato no escucho nada, y sobre todo, dejar la mediocridad de lado y comenzar a tratar al deporte (en este caso al fútbol) desde un ángulo más profesional.
Aun así, no me rindo en mi sueño de ver un futuro mejor para los futbolistas cubanos, y les agradezco a los muchachos que nos representaron, pues a pesar de las dificultades, no lo piensan dos veces cuando se trata de representar a nuestro país sin importar el rival.

It was a chronicle of a death foretold. I had already mentioned it in other publications: we need the best players we can count on, the directors must stop believing they are gods and count on everyone with the sufficient level to be in the national team without taking into account the political or other ideas of a player. We must continue adding in the learning of our coaches and technicians, work seriously in the lower categories, take care of our national championship, which by the way, I have not heard anything about for a while, and above all, leave mediocrity aside and begin to treat the sport (in this case soccer) from a more professional angle.
Even so, I do not give up in my dream of seeing a better future for Cuban soccer players, and I thank the boys who represented us, because despite the difficulties, they do not think twice when it comes to representing our country regardless of the rival.
