Finalmente pude hacer el sueño realidad de mi hijo mayor de ir a un partido de fútbol profesional, hemos asistido a muchos amateurs, él mismo a practicado fútbol por años, al igual que yo en mi juventud, pero hasta ahora siendo tan fans del fútbol, no habíamos podido asistir a un partido de carácter internacional. Por fin se dio la oportunidad, en el estado donde vivimos dos de los equipos de acá clasificaron para competencias internacionales, donde los partidos de localia serían muy cerca de nuestra casa.
Academia vs. Lanús for the CONMEBOL Sudamericana - A Family dream come true
I was finally able to make my eldest son's dream of going to a professional soccer match a reality. We've attended many amateur games, and he himself has played soccer for years, just like I did in my youth. But until now, even being such big soccer fans, we hadn't been able to attend an international-level match. The opportunity finally arose when two of the teams here in our state qualified for international competitions, with their home games being very close to our house.
Los equipos son el Carabobo F.C. que terminó campeón del torneo clausura venezolano, lo que le dio un boleto a la CONMEBOL Libertadores, el otro es el Academia Puerto Cabello que se clasificó para la CONMEBOL Sudamericana. No logramos tickets para el partido del Carabobo por Libertadores contra Estudiantes de la Plata, pero si para el juego de Academia por la Sudamericana contra CA Lanús de Argentina. No pude asistir con él porque ese dia se rompio la guaya del embrague de mi carro y debía arreglarla para poder ir a trabajar al dia siguiente, asi que lo envié con su abuelo que es super fanatico del futbol tambien.
The teams are Carabobo F.C., which finished as champion of the Venezuelan Torneo Clausura, earning them a spot in the CONMEBOL Libertadores, and Academia Puerto Cabello, which qualified for the CONMEBOL Sudamericana. We couldn't get tickets for Carabobo's Libertadores match against Estudiantes de la Plata, but we did for Academia's Sudamericana game against CA Lanús from Argentina. I couldn't go with him because that day the clutch cable in my car broke, and I had to fix it to be able to go to work the next day, so I sent him with his grandfather, who is also a huge soccer fan.

El Academia Puerto Cabello venció a Metropolitanos FC en 5 de marzo 3-0 y aseguró su puesto en el sorteo de la copa, terminando en el grupo G con: CR Vasco da Gama de Brasil, CA Lanús de Argentina y FBC Melgar peruano.
For those unfamiliar with this competition, you could say it's like the UEFA Cup of South America. It has had several names since its founding, but it has been known as the CONMEBOL Sudamericana since 2002. It has an interesting qualifying system where countries play against local teams, and they qualify for the group stage, where only Argentina and Brazil go directly. Academia Puerto Cabello defeated Metropolitanos FC 3-0 on March 5th and secured their place in the cup draw, ending up in Group G with: CR Vasco da Gama from Brazil, CA Lanús from Argentina, and FBC Melgar from Peru.
Academia es un equipo de la zona costera del estado, pero su estadio es pequeño por eso juega en la capital del estado, porque el estadio Misael Delgado de Valencia, que es la casa del Carabobo FC, tiene un aforo para 10,000 personas. El Misael es un estadio pequeño, por eso son raros los juegos internacionales que acá se dan, así que esta es una gran oportunidad, es por eso que queremos aprovechar e ir nuevamente, esta vez que yo si pueda acompañarle para el 22 de abril que el Carabobo juega contra la U de Chile o el 6 de mayo contra el Botafogo de Brasil.

El juego fue muy emocionante, CA Lanús es un equipo bastante fuerte, pero nos sorprendió el desempeño del Academia, mi hijo me cuenta que hicieron valer la localía y comenzaron ganando 2 - 0 dejando el marcador así hasta finalizar el primer tiempo, sin embargo, no fueron capaces de sostener la ventaja y Lanús terminó empatando el juego, con un despliegue ofensivo impresionante aún tras la expulsión de uno de sus jugadores. The game was very exciting. CA Lanús is a pretty strong team, but we were surprised by Academia's performance.
