Siguiendo con la cobertura del Rally Dakar 2024, hoy les traigo otro resumen de esta maravillosa competencia que comenzó el pasado 5 de enero y concluirá el 19 de este mes, es decir, dos semanas de una de las competencias más importantes del deporte motor, donde el campeón de año pasado, el qatarí Nasser Al-Attiyah ya está al acecho de la punta de la tabla general de tiempo de la carrera, ubicándose este miércoles en la segunda posición, por detrás de Yazeed Al-Rajhi a tan solo nueve minutos, que para el estilo de esta competencia no es prácticamente nada.
El día de ayer el vencedor de etapa fue Sébastien Loeb en la categoría de autos, con Al-Rajhi segundo y Nasser en la tercera posición de la cuarta etapa, mientras que el español, Carlos Sainz, culminó cuarto, cediendo un poco de tiempo, pero manteniendo el segundo lugar de la general. Sainz se mostró muy descontento con su rendimiento, se encontraban un poco perdido en la etapa, no sabían muy bien la ruta, una de las cosas más complicada de esta carrera, aunado al bloqueo que le hizo aparentemente el piloto Romain Dumas. Otro problema que sufrió el español fue una pinchadura. A pesar de todo esto puedo quedar cuarto.
Este miércoles Sainz volvió a perder tiempo, terminando en la posición a más de nueve minutos del líder Al-Attiyah, perdiendo la segunda posición de la general con el catarí, lo que es realmente una pena porque se esperaba una mejor lucha entre estos dos, que sin lugar a dudas le daría un mayor entretenimiento a este Rally Dakar en su edición del 2024. Nasser viene con el cuchillo entre los dientes, con set de triunfo, quiero llevarse por segundo año consecutivo la victoria en la carrera Raid más importante de toda la gira, se le ve muy motivado, a pesar de que en las primeras carreras estaba un poco lejos con respecto a sus más cercanos rivales. Pero poco a poco se va acercando a su versión de año pasado, donde dominó la competencia.

Continuing with the coverage of the Dakar Rally 2024, today I bring you another summary of this wonderful competition that began last January 5 and will conclude on the 19th of this month, that is, two weeks of one of the most important competitions of motorsport, where last year's champion, Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah is already stalking the lead of the general time table of the race, placing this Wednesday in second position, behind Yazeed Al-Rajhi at only nine minutes, which for the style of this competition is practically nothing.
Yesterday the stage winner was Sébastien Loeb in the car category, with Al-Rajhi second and Nasser in third place in the fourth stage, while the Spaniard, Carlos Sainz, finished fourth, giving up a little time, but maintaining second place overall. Sainz was very unhappy with his performance, he was a little lost in the stage, did not know very well the route, one of the most complicated things of this race, coupled with the blockage that apparently made the driver Romain Dumas. Pero, al menos, fue un comienzo para ir descontando el tiempo perdido. Este miércoles, el francés, 9 veces campeón del campeonato mundial de rallies volvió a tener una mala etapa, quedando en la posición 70 a más de 20 minutos del campeón del año pasado. Ya Loeb se encuentra a un poco más de 43 minutos del líder, prácticamente está quedando fuera por la lucha de la victoria, tan solo un gran día en la etapa maratón que comienzo mañana y concluirá el día viernes, donde son 48 horas de la etapa más larga de todo el Rally Dakar.
Al igual que mi anterior reseña, pienso que al menos en la categoría de autos, todo está incierto, cualquier cosa se puede dar, pero vemos la supremacía del auto Toyota con respecto al resto, Yazeed Al-Rajhi está haciendo un magnífico trabajo, siempre terminando en las primeras posiciones en estos 5 etapas que se han disputado hasta el momento. Pero también es cierto que Nasser está descontando poco a poco en la general y una vez que se acerca a la punta, es difícil que deje escapar la oportunidad de quedarse con una nueva victoria en la carrera más importante del campeonato de Rally Raid. Como opinión personal, pienso que Nasser será nuevamente el ganador, aunque la etapa maratón, que comienzo mañana, será muy importante para las aspiraciones de todos los contendientes, entre ellos el catarí.

As a personal opinion, I think Nasser will be the winner again, although the marathon stage, which starts tomorrow, will be very important for the aspirations of all the contenders, including the Qatari.
Ya dejando a un lado la categoría de autos, no se puede dejar la oportunidad para hablar de la categoría de Quad, donde el argentino Manuel Andújar es el líder de la general con cinco etapas disputadas, a espera de la etapa maratón de dos días. Resumiendo un poco estas cinco etapas de Andújar, en el prólogo quedó segundo, superado por su compatriota Francisco Moreno Flores. En la etapa uno Manuel quedó tercero, mientras que el ganador fue el brasilero Marcelo Medeiros, quien posteriormente se volvió a quedar con el triunfo de la etapa dos y Andújar fue tercero, emulando el resultado del día anterior. Por otro lado, en la etapa tres el argentino fue segundo, mientras que el brasilero perdió tiempo, cediendo la punta de la general. La cuarta etapa fue ganada por Manuel Andújar para tomar la punta de la carrera y a pesar de que Medeiros ganó la etapa del día de hoy, no pudo asaltar el liderato y esto se debe al tercer lugar del piloto argentino de Yamaha.
Sin lugar a dudas, la categoría de Quad está siendo una de las más emocionantes del todo el Rally Dakar 2024, una lucha entre latinoamericanos, Manuel Andújar y Marcelo Medeiros, aunque entre estos dos se interpone el francés Alexandre Giroud, pero a un poco más de 20 minutos del líder Andújar quien tiene una buena ventaja, pero cualquier error en los próximos días, lo puede pagar muy caro.
Otra categoría que está que arde es la de motos, una pelea entre Ross Branch y el piloto chileno del equipo Honda, José Ignacio Cornejo, quien está por detrás de Ross por a penas un minuto, siendo esta la categoría más disputada y donde cualquier mala etapa puede inclinar la carrera hacía a uno u otro, incluso sin dejar un lado a los otros pilotos que están en los primeros planos, como es el caso del estadounidense Ricky Brabec, quien siempre ha estado en los primeros planos de la categoría motos del Dakar 2024. Otro piloto latinoamericano que debemos destacar es al otro piloto chileno de la competencia, Pablo Quintanilla, quien viene de ganar la etapa cinco y de quedar tercero en el día 3 (etapa 2), pero Quintanilla se ha visto perjudicado por una sanción de 6 minutos que se le impuso, aunado a otros malos resultados, pero a pesar de ello está sexto en la general, aunque a más de 20 minutos de Ross Branch.
Este Rally Dakar 2024 está muy emocionante, pero a la vez está muy impredecible como les dije en mi última reseña, y la razón principal es que un día destaca un piloto, pero a la siguiente pierde tiempo y cuando gana lo hace por muy poco tiempo. Lo que puedo concluir es que este Rally en cada una de las categorías se las llevará el piloto más constante y en auto, siendo que ha sido el campeón del año pasado, el qatarí Nasser, viene con todos los hierro para llevarse su segundo competencia en años consecutivos. Otro motivo para celebrar es el hecho de la actuación de los pilotos de nuestra región, como es el caso del argentino Manuel Andújar en Quad que va de líder con una buena ventaja y el chileno Ignacio Cornejo quien marcha segundo en motos. Leaving aside the car category, we cannot miss the opportunity to talk about the Quad category, where the Argentinean Manuel Andujar is the overall leader with five stages completed, waiting for the two-day marathon stage. Summarizing a little these five stages of Andujar, in the prologue he was second, surpassed by his compatriot Francisco Moreno Flores. In stage one Manuel was third, while the winner was the Brazilian Marcelo Medeiros, who later returned to win stage two and Andujar was third, emulating the result of the previous day. On the other hand, in stage three the Argentinean was second, while the Brazilian lost time, giving up the lead in the general classification. Undoubtedly, the Quad category is being one of the most exciting of the entire Dakar Rally 2024, a fight between Latin Americans, Manuel Andujar and Marcelo Medeiros, although between these two stands the Frenchman Alexandre Giroud, but a little more than 20 minutes behind the leader Andujar who has a good advantage, but any mistake in the coming days, can pay dearly.
Another category that is on fire is the motorcycle category, a fight between Ross Branch and the Chilean rider of the Honda team, José Ignacio Cornejo, who is behind Ross by barely a minute, being this the most disputed category and where any bad stage can tilt the race towards one or the other, even without leaving aside the other riders who are in the first planes, as is the case of the American Ricky Brabec, who has always been in the top of the Dakar 2024 motorcycle category. Another Latin American rider to highlight is the other Chilean rider in the competition, Pablo Quintanilla, who comes from winning stage five and finishing third on day 3 (stage 2), but Quintanilla has been hurt by a 6-minute penalty imposed on him, along with other bad results, but despite this he is sixth overall, although more than 20 minutes behind Ross Branch.
This Dakar Rally 2024 is very exciting, but at the same time it is very unpredictable as I told you in my last review, and the main reason is that one day a driver stands out, but the next day he loses time and when he wins he does it for a very short time. What I can conclude is that this Rally in each of the categories will be won by the most constant driver and in the car, being last year's champion, the Qatari Nasser, comes with all the iron to win his second competition in consecutive years. Another reason to celebrate is the performance of the pilots of our region, as is the case of the Argentinean Manuel Andujar in Quad who is leading with a good advantage and the Chilean Ignacio Cornejo who is in second place in motorcycles.
