Hola hola!
Lo que me motiva a escribir en esta ocasión para la comunidad, es que este fin de semana fui, junto a mi esposo, a un evento que estábamos esperando desde hace tiempo, el "Havana Skate Marathon"
Hello!
What motivates me to write this time for the community, is that this weekend I went, with my husband, to an event that we have been waiting for a long time, the "Havana Skate Marathon".
Pero primero, los pongo en contexto// But first, I'll put them in context:
Esta locura del patinaje nos comenzó a raíz de que a mi esposo siempre le llamó la atención, pero no es menos cierto que en la vida adulta comienzan a surgir otras prioridades y gastarse una buena platica en un par de patines (acá en Cuba son extremadamente caros, aún de uso), no es de las primeras.
Peroooo, no me gusta estar dejando ir los sueños por falta de recursos, menos aún que los míos, los de la gente que quiero. Supe por una amistad que una persona estaba vendiendo sus patines en un precio, que aunque caro, lo era un poco menos que otros que habíamos visto, y ya que tenía a guardada y convertida a la moneda local algunas de las recompensas obtenidas en Hive, casi que empujando a mi esposo 😅 los fuimos a ver, y los compramos!!!😁
Así terminamos en la Ciudad Deportiva (CD), un espacio enorme y abierto al público donde se practican muchos deportes, y encontramos a un grupo que entrenaban a niños a patinar. Aunque él no recibe clases directamente,pues no entrenan adultos, si le permiten observar las instrucciones y comparte pista con aquellos diminutos pero extra veloces patinadores, siempre cuidando de que no lo tumben. (...a mi esposo, no a los niños, ellos son unos máquinas jajajajaj y me lo arrollan 🤣)
This skating crazy thing started because my husband was always fascinated by it, but it is no less true that in adult life other priorities begin to emerge and spending a good amount of money on a pair of skates (here in Cuba they are extremely expensive, even in use), is not one of the first ones priorities.
Butooo, I don't like to be letting go of the dreams for lack of resources, even less than my own, those of the people I love. I knew through a friend that a person was selling his skates at a price, that although expensive, it was a little less than others we had seen, and since I had saved and converted to local currency some of the rewards obtained in Hive, almost pushing my husband 😅 we went to see them, and we bought them!!!😁
So we ended up at the Ciudad Deportiva (CD), a huge space open to the public where many sports are practiced, and we found a group training kids to skate. Although he doesn't receive classes directly, because they don't train adults, he is allowed to watch the instructions and shares the skating rink with those tiny but extra fast skaters, always making sure they don't knock him down (...my husband, not the kids, they are machines hahahahahahahah and they run over him 🤣).

Así es como, supimos de este Evento Internacional de Patinaje, pues algunos de los profes se iban a presentar y otros no ligados directamente al grupo, también practicaban en la pista de la CD.
This is how we learned about this International Skating Event, as some of the teachers were going to present and others not directly linked to the group, were also practicing at the CD Skating rink.

Por cuestiones de trabajo solo pudimos estar una jornada, pero logramos ir el domingo, que correspondía al maratón como tal, un recorrido de 42 km bordeando el malecón habanero.
En los días anteriores se habian ejecutado otras competiciones, como : Velocidad (100m sprint), Estilo Libre (Salto y Slalom) y Skatecross.
El evento además contaba con la presencia decampeones mundiales, entre ellos "Chevy" Guzmán, español con origen venezolano y que se posicionó en lo más alto del podio con un salto de 1.35 m.
Pues acá estábamos el día 4 de diciembre, listos para poder ver en acción a los grandes del mundo y de Cuba en esta disciplina deportiva.
Ahora los muestro algunas de las imágenes capturadas, con mi celular, durante el evento:
For work reasons we could only be there for one day, but we managed to go on Sunday, which corresponded to the marathon as such, a journey of 42 km along the Havana Malecón.
In the previous days other competitions had been held, such as: Speed (100m sprint), Freestyle (Jumping and Slalom) and Skatecross.
The event also counted with the presence of world champions, among them "Chevy" Guzman, Spanish with Venezuelan origin and who was positioned at the top of the podium with a jump of 1.35m.
So here we were on December 4, ready to see in action the greats of the world and Cuba in this sport discipline.

El evento estuvo muy bien organizado, con pequeños niños en sus diminutos trajecitos y campeones mundiales. Un espacio ideal de unión como solo lo puede lograr el deporte.
The event was very well organized, with little kids in their tiny outfits and world champions. An ideal space for bonding as only sport can achieve.

Fue una más que grata experiencia participar como espectadores en este evento. Salimos de ahí llenos de alegría y motivados a practicar más deportes. Yo por mi parte voy a aprovechar los días que mi esposo practica su patinaje, para hacer un poco de running.
...y quién sabe, quizás se apunta al próximo maratón de patinaje?! 🙌
It was a more than great experience to participate as spectators in this event. We left there full of joy and motivated to practice more sports and I'm going to take advantage of the days that my husband skates, to do some running.
...and who knows, maybe he'll sign up for the next skating marathon!
