Estamos por estos lados por segundo día consecutivo pero es que ante este tipos de noticias y acontecimientos es bueno hablarlo cuando las cosas están acabadas de suceder. El día de ayer fue uno de esos días bastantes atípicos dentro del mundo de la Formula Uno y lo digo porque realmente para que pasen este tipo de cosas tienen que darse circunstancias que no las vemos todos los días.
We are here for the second day in a row, but it is good to talk about this kind of news and events when things have just happened. Yesterday was one of those quite atypical days in the world of Formula One and I say this because really for this kind of things to happen there have to be circumstances that we do not see every day.
Ciertamente lo vivido ayer fue un caos por las condiciones climáticas que sacudieron el circuito de Spa-Francorchamp donde se hizo presente un diluvio de gran magnitud que imposibilitó el inicio de una carrera que estaba pautada para las 15:00hrs local. Al principio vimos como desde la dirección de carrera se retrasaban 5, 10, 25 minutos para ver si por algún milagro las condiciones del clima mejoraban pero no fue así, una espera de TRES horas la cual fue una tortura totalmente inútil e innecesaria.
Certainly what we experienced yesterday was chaos due to the weather conditions that shook the Spa-Francorchamp circuit where a deluge of great magnitude was present that made impossible the start of a race that was scheduled for 15:00hrs local time. At the beginning we saw how the race direction delayed 5, 10, 25 minutes to see if by some miracle the weather conditions improved but it was not so, a wait of THREE hours which was a totally useless and unnecessary torture.

La verdad es que era muy complicado correr en esas condiciones pero no imposible considerando que años atrás se ha corrido quizás con un peor clima, la cosa es que a medida que pasa el tiempo estos monoplazas son cada vez más rápidos y ligeros por lo que las probabilidades de una fatalidad eran muy grandes. De hecho previo a la carrera hubo par de accidentes, uno en la clasificación del sábado y el otro en vueltas de reconocimientos a cargo de Lando Norris y Sergio Pérez respectivamente.
The truth is that it was very complicated to race in those conditions but not impossible considering that years ago we have raced perhaps with worse weather, the thing is that as time goes by these cars are getting faster and lighter so the chances of a fatality were very high. In fact, prior to the race there were a couple of accidents, one in Saturday's qualifying and the other in the reconnaissance laps by Lando Norris and Sergio Perez respectively.
La Pole Position quedó en manos de Max Verstappen, de segundo lugar el británico George Russell y de tercero el campeón vigente Lewis Hamilton; lo que nadie sabía es que de esa misma forma iba a quedar el podio de esta "carrera". La cosa es que después de aquellas 3 largas horas decidieron dar luz verde nuevamente para ver si era factible correr pero no se pudo, tan solo se dieron 3 vueltas detrás del Safety Car así para completar el mínimo requerido para efectuar una repartición de puntos bastante cuestionada.
The Pole Position was in the hands of Max Verstappen, second place went to the British George Russell and third place to the reigning champion Lewis Hamilton; what nobody knew was that the podium of this "race" would be the same way. The thing is that after those 3 long hours they decided to give the green light again to see if it was feasible to run but it was not possible, only 3 laps were given behind the Safety Car so to complete the minimum required to make a distribution of points quite questioned.

Como no se corrió de manera completa la carrera solo se repartió la mitad de los puntos, es decir, 12.5 para Verstappen, 9 para Russell y 7.5 para Hamilton. Creo que NADIE quiere ganar de esa manera pero dada la situación tuvieron que aceptar el reglamento de la FIA, además de la manera como yo lo veo fue un premio a la Pole.
As the race was not run in full only half of the points were split, i.e. 12.5 for Verstappen, 9 for Russell and 7.5 for Hamilton. I think NOBODY wants to win that way but given the situation they had to accept the FIA regulations, plus the way I see it it was a Pole award.
En lo personal todo esto me dejó un sabor amargo porque si me hubiese gustado ver correr a Russell desde esa segunda posición que se ganó dando UNA sola vuelta en la "Q3", estoy seguro que para él también lo fue pero así son las cosas, ya la semana que viene tendrá una revancha porque así es el deporte, siempre te da segundas oportunidades.
Personally all this left me with a bitter taste because if I would have liked to see Russell run from that second position that he earned giving ONE lap in the "Q3", I'm sure it was for him too but that's how things are, and next week he will have a rematch because that's the sport, it always gives you second chances.

Hablando muy en general creo que TODA la situación fue una verdadera burla, tanto para los fanáticos que estaban presente en el circuito y los que no, para los mismos pilotos, mecánicos, televisoras y todos aquellos que trabajan de manera indirecta. Por qué lo digo? - porque fue una espera absurda, el clima se sabía que no iba a mejorar en las próximas horas y aún así decidieron seguir adelante con la posibilidad de que se corriera en algún momento. Y como segunda razón es que ese farsa que se hizo de las 3 vueltas detrás del Safety Car, por que no se hizo en un principio sabiendo lo antes mencionado? - en fin, terrible manejo el de Michael Masi y toda la dirección de carrera.
Generally speaking, I think the whole situation was a real mockery, both for the fans who were present at the circuit and those who were not, for the drivers, mechanics, TV stations and all those who work indirectly. Why do I say that? - Because it was an absurd wait, the weather was known that it was not going to improve in the next hours and yet they decided to go ahead with the possibility of racing at some point. And the second reason is that the 3 laps behind the Safety Car was a farce, why wasn't it done in the beginning knowing what was mentioned before? - In short, Michael Masi and the whole race management handled it terribly.
Al final y después de la repartición de puntos la otra carrera, la del campeonato, sigue estando liderizada por Lewis Hamilton con 202.5 puntos, seguido de Max Verstappen con 199.5 y en tercer lugar Lando Norris con 113 puntos. En cuanto a la pelea por el mejor equipo Mercedes se mantiene a la cabeza con 310.5 puntos, segundo lugar para la Red Bull con 303.5 y cerrando de tercero McLaren con 169 puntos seguido muy pero muy de cerca por la Ferrari con 165.5 puntos.
In the end and after the distribution of points the other race, the championship, is still led by Lewis Hamilton with 202.5 points, followed by Max Verstappen with 199.5 and in third place Lando Norris with 113 points. As for the fight for the best team Mercedes remains in the lead with 310.5 points, second place for Red Bull with 303.5 and closing third McLaren with 169 points followed closely by Ferrari with 165.5 points.
Lo más destacable para mi fue el podio de George Russell, quizás no de la forma que nos hubiese gustado, pero al final son unos puntos que se lleva una de las promesas más grande que tiene el automovilismo para los años venideros siendo un próximos campeón mundial, de eso no puede haber dudas.
The highlight for me was George Russell's podium, maybe not in the way we would have liked, but in the end they are some points that takes one of the greatest promises that motorsport has for the coming years being a next world champion, of that there can be no doubt.
