Desde hace unas cuantas semanas la parrilla principal para lo que será la temporada del 2026 en la Fórmula 1 está definida y si, hay varios cambios interesantes. Hoy no vamos a hablar a nivel técnico, mecánico ni de reglamento; solo lo haremos en lo que a material humano se refiere y de las expectativas que pueden haber en torno a algunos de ellos y su funcionamiento como parejas. Si las cosas siguen como terminaron este 2025 pues el equipo a vencer seguirá siendo McLaren ya que tienen probablemente a dos de los mejores pilotos de toda la alineación. Dependerá mucho de como Brown y Stella gestionen el equipo y no cometan las atrocidades que hicieron en esta temporada recién terminada.
The main grid for the 2026 Formula 1 season has been set for a few weeks now, and yes, there are several interesting changes. Today we won't be discussing technical, mechanical, or regulatory aspects; we'll focus solely on the drivers and the expectations surrounding some of them and their performance as team pairings. If things continue as they did at the end of 2025, McLaren will remain the team to beat, as they likely have two of the best drivers in the entire lineup. Much will depend on how Brown and Stella manage the team and whether they repeat the mistakes they made in this recently concluded season.
Verstappen tiene otro compañero, uno que espero no tenga el mismo destino que todos los anteriores que han dejado ese segundo asiento. Isack Hadjar fue uno de los mejores novatos en el 2025 con el Racing Bull solo por debajo de Antonelli. Recuerdo que le costó un poco acoplarse a ese automóvil pero después de que eso pasara la verdad es que cosechó buenos resultados haciendo grandes carreras. Evidentemente todo cambia cuando llegas a Red Bull y ahora que Horner ni Helmut Marko estarán al mando pues esperaría que las cosas fueran más fáciles y mejores para ambos pilotos. Si a Hadjar le dan un auto competitivo no tengo dudas que pueda hacer el trabajo que se espera de él.
Verstappen has another teammate, one I hope won't suffer the same fate as all the previous drivers who have left that second seat. Isack Hadjar was one of the best rookies in 2025 with Racing Bull, second only to Antonelli. I remember he struggled a bit to adapt to that car, but after that, he really achieved good results, putting in some great races. Obviously, everything changes when you arrive at Red Bull, and now that Horner and Helmut Marko won't be at the helm, I would expect things to be easier and better for both drivers. If Hadjar is given a competitive car, I have no doubt he can do the job expected of him.

Otro de los equipos que me llaman la atención ver cómo funcionarán es de Cadillac. Tener al Checo Pérez y a Valtteri Bottas de vuelta es sin dudas una ganancia porque ambos son muy buenos en lo que hacen además de que al final serán dos autos más en pista piloteados por dos de los mejores que han corrido en Fórmula 1. Creo que ahora todo será mucho más competitivo que antes, hay que tener en cuenta que este par no es cualquier cosa, son hombres que saben lo que es ganar grandes premios por lo que todo radicará en la calidad de sus autos. Lamentablemente no se puede opinar de eso porque son una completa incógnita además de que no hay referencias; con Cadillac estamos un poco en el aire.
Another team I'm curious to see how they'll perform is Cadillac. Having Sergio Pérez and Valtteri Bottas back is undoubtedly a plus because they're both very good at what they do, and ultimately, that means two more cars on the track driven by two of the best Formula 1 drivers to have ever competed. I think everything will be much more competitive now than before. Keep in mind that this pair is no pushover; they're drivers who know what it takes to win Grand Prix races, so everything will hinge on the quality of their cars. Unfortunately, it's hard to say for sure because they're a complete unknown, and there's no precedent to follow; with Cadillac, we're a bit in the dark.
Un equipo al que le fue muy mal en este 2025 fue a Ferrari. Cuando Hamilton hizo su pase a la casa italiana se esperaba que fuera el compañero ideal de Leclerc, eso no pasó. El año del múltiple campeón mundial fue de los peores de su carrera, nunca supo adaptarse, tuvo varios quiebres a nivel emocional, no rindió como se esperaba. Pero esto no fue por la carencia de calidad sino porque el SF-25 fue una desgracia. Hay potencial en esa dupla pero siempre y cuando tengan un auto que los apoye. Espero que para el 2026 de verdad sean lo más competitivos que se pueda porque eso dará mucho más espectáculo. Genuinamente espero mucho de Hamilton en la próxima temporada, se merece un resurgir después de lo vivido en este 2025.
One team that fared very poorly in 2025 was Ferrari. When Hamilton moved to the Italian team, it was expected that he would be the ideal partner for Leclerc, but that didn't happen. The multiple world champion's year was one of the worst of his career; he never adapted, suffered several emotional breakdowns, and didn't perform as expected. But this wasn't due to a lack of talent, but rather because the SF25 was a disaster. There is potential in that pairing, but only if they have a car that supports them. I hope that by 2026 they will truly be as competitive as possible because that will make for a much more exciting spectacle. I genuinely have high hopes for Hamilton next season; he deserves a resurgence after what he experienced in 2025.

Franco Colapinto no pudo sumar puntos en su instancia en la F1 este 2025, me hubiese gustado que lo hiciera pero manejar ese Alpine era algo terrorífico y casi que imposible. Es bueno que Briatore viera en el argentino la posibilidad de tener a un piloto joven y con maneras para el 2026. Ojalá la reestructuración de ese auto sea total y que Alpine vuelva a ser medianamente competitivo para finalmente ver todo el potencial que nos puede dar Colapinto. En la parrilla solo tendremos una cara nueva y es la de Arvid Lindblad, un joven británico que correrá junto a Lawson en Racing Bull. Él quedó de sexto en la F2 y lo que más destaca es lo rápido que es. Si la gente de Red Bull lo ascendió pues por algo sería. Solo me limito a repetir lo que he leído por ahí.
Franco Colapinto failed to score any points in his F1 stint in 2025. I would have liked him to, but driving that Alpine was terrifying and almost impossible. It's good that Briatore saw in the Argentinian the possibility of having a young and promising driver for 2026. Hopefully, the car will be completely overhauled and the Alpine will become reasonably competitive again so we can finally see the full potential that Colapinto can offer. On the grid, we'll only have one new face: Arvid Lindblad, a young Briton who will race alongside Lawson at Racing Bull. He finished sixth in F2, and what stands out most is how fast he is. If Red Bull promoted him, there must have been a reason. I'm just repeating what I've read elsewhere.
El resto se mantiene igual. Quisiera que Fernando Alonso por fin ganase la 33 pero para eso el Aston Martin tiene que volar y no se yo que tan cerca estén de eso. En líneas generales creo que será una temporada muy buena, el tener un equipo más dará más emoción y vistosidad a las carrera teniendo en cuenta los pilotos que se reincorporan. Falta poco menos de 3 meses para el inicio. En otra oportunidad hablaremos de todos los cambios de reglamento que se vienen que ya les digo no son pocos.
Everything else remains the same. I'd love to see Fernando Alonso finally win his 33rd title, but for that to happen, the Aston Martin needs to be flying, and I'm not sure how close they are to that. Overall, I think it will be a very good season. Having one more team will add more excitement and spectacle to the races, especially considering the drivers who are returning. There are just under three months until the start. We'll talk about all the upcoming rule changes another time; there are quite a few, I can tell you.
