Hello Full Deportes community
I previously shared my analyzes and opinions on football matches, but I realized that was not what I was really passionate about. This situation was one of the reasons I walked away from Hive, as I felt like my content was more of the same. After more than three years of inactivity I decided to get back to exercising, something that had been a fundamental part of my life. That's why I entered the world of Crossfit and running, the latter being my favorite and which I will tell you about today.
It all goes back to late last year when, on the recommendation of a YouTube video, I read David Goggins' book "Cant Hurt Me." For those who have read this book, it is normal that when you finish it you feel great motivation haha, especially for running. I started running at least three times a week, but my physical condition was terrible. I couldn't last long and I got too tired, but I didn't stop. If this book taught me anything, it is that many of our limits are in our minds and we are capable of overcoming what seems impossible.
In the world of sports, when someone achieves good results in a competition, many people attribute the success to the effort the athlete made that day. However, what they don't see is that this was simply a test of what they had already practiced hundreds of times during their training. Putting the above into practice, I came across an advertisement for a race called ROCK RUN 2, with distances of 4k and 7k, and it was here where I decided to challenge myself.I had just under a month to prepare and get a decent time in the race. Combine strength and resistance training for a better result. I ran at least 30km a week, with Saturday being the day I did the most endurance work. It may seem simple, although believe me it wasn't for me. There were days when I didn't want to train, that's how it works, motivation doesn't last forever and that's where discipline comes from. Every time I didn't feel like it I asked myself two questions: why do I do it and do I really want to do it? These questions helped me focus back on the goal.
May 5, 2024 marked my return to an "official" competition and was the culmination of a lot of work. It was 6:45 when I started warming up and with it came the nerves, something that I have always liked to feel in these types of situations. First those who would compete in the 7k distance left, minutes later we, the 4k runners, started. As I stood at the finish line I experienced that feeling that it was everything and nothing at the same time. The countdown began and I took off right behind another runner, keeping us that way for the first kilometer (in first and second place), until the one who would end up winning passed us impressively, leaving us in the dust haha. That's how the race went until a fourth person joined the scene trying to take the podium from us, but I wasn't going to let that happen so easily. I was clear that I was not going to stop, no matter how tired I was, I always had David Goggins' 40% law in mind. The last 100 meters were the most exciting, as three of us were fighting for second and third place. Everything was decided in a sprint in which each one used the energy they had left to reach that long-awaited podium. When I crossed the finish line and saw that I had achieved my goal, I felt great satisfaction because I had completed all the work I had done in an exceptional way. It was a demonstration for me that I can also excel in individual sports.Rock Run 2 would be my first race and the beginning of my story in the world of running. Thanks for getting here.
