Finalmente se dio el tercer choque entre los tenistas españoles del momento, Carlos Alcaraz y Rafael Nadal, el presente y futuro del deporte blanco, compartiendo tiros ganadores en casa; engalanando el torneo de la capital ibérica y luchando por inscribir su nombre en las semifinales de este prestigioso Masters 1000. Dado que ya es bien conocido el ritmo desbordante de Carlitos, mis expectativas estaban puestas en las estrategias de Rafa, precisamente para contener el implacable tren de ataque de su joven compatriota.
