Debut por todo lo alto. // Novak Djokovic en el ATP Rolex Paris Masters [Esp - Eng]

Entre tantos partidos emocionantes en la jornada de hoy, no pude evitar decantarme por el debut triunfal del serbio Novak Djokovic; el campeón defensor del último torneo de maestros del año y el tenista más ganador en esta modalidad de eventos. Aunque al llegar de mi jornada laboral, estuve siguiendo los encuentros vespertinos de Wawrinka y Huesler, lamentablemente ambos fueron eliminados en esta instancia inicial, no sin antes dar un gran espectáculo deportivo. Pero en cuanto a trascendencia, era el balcánico quien marca la pauta.

Among so many exciting matches today, I could not help but opt for the triumphant debut of Serbian Novak Djokovic; the defending champion of the last Masters tournament of the year and the most winning tennis player in this type of event. Se trata de la edición número 54 del torneo de maestros de París, un evento de gran importancia en pleno cierre del calendario, que luego le seguirán las ATP Finals y las finales de la Copa Davis. Es interesante ver en un mismo cuadro a la mayoría del top 100, liderados por Carlitos, Rafa y Casper, como los 3 mejores preclasificados, aunque por supuesto que debemos estar atentos a las actuaciones de Daniil Medvedev, Tsitsipás, Rublev y al gran campeón que es Nole. Por eso cada jornada cuenta, dado que en el tenis la eliminación es directa y las sorpresas están a la orden del día.

Novak se enfrentó al clasificado estadounidense Maxime Cressy, un atleta con un estilo de ataque muy particular, que suele ser muy efectivo en pistas rápidas(fue campeón en Newport), de manera que representó un reto a la altura del serbio. El encuentro estuvo muy cerrado desde el primer set, Maxime mantuvo a raya el ataque rival, haciéndole jugar por momentos en plan defensivo; son su popular saque y volea. Cressy es valiente y fiel a su técnica, subiendo constantemente a la red para una especie de muerte súbita en cada punto, aunque con Nole se iba a llevar una sorpresa.

Djokovic se convirtió en un correcaminos, moviéndose con mucha velocidad de piernas por toda la pista y exhibiendo un control casi robótico en sus manos, para devolver cada tiro en los rincones más difíciles para Maxime; que a pesar de su alcance de brazos, no alcanzaba para mantener los rallyes , de hecho hubo muy pocos porque cada punto se jugó con pocos golpes.
