El día de ayer se llevó a cabo la segunda jornada de los juegos de vuelta de los cuartos de final de la UEFA Women's Champions League; en Alemania se enfrentaron el VfL Wolfsburgo y PSG, mientras que en Inglaterra se enfrentaron el Chelsea FC y Olympique Lyon; para quien no tenga conocimiento de lo sucedido en los anteriores encuentros entre estos dos clubes, debo decir que el resultado final de los partidos de ida tuvo el mismo resultado de un gol por cero y en dónde tanto el club alemán como el inglés fueron quienes obtuvieron la victoria; este corto resultado creó altas expectativas entre quienes siguen está competencia en su renglón femenino porque existía la posibilidad que hubiera resultados sorpresivos como por ejemplo que el actual campeón del torneo no alcanzará las semifinales.
Yesterday was the second day of the second leg of the quarterfinals of the UEFA Women's Champions League; in Germany VfL Wolfsburg and PSG faced each other, while in England Chelsea FC and Olympique Lyon faced each other; For those who do not know what happened in the previous meetings between these two clubs, I must say that the final result of the first leg matches had the same result of one goal to zero and where both the German and the English club were the ones who won; this short result created high expectations among those who follow this competition in its women's section because there was the possibility that there were surprising results as for example that the current champion of the tournament would not reach the semifinals.
A pesar de que ayer se disputó los encuentros de vuelta entre estos clubes anteriormente citados; en esta oportunidad haré solamente referencia a lo ocurrido en el estadio Stamford Bridge en dónde el Chelsea CF, que actualmente está en la tercera posición de la FA WSL, se enfrentaba a nada más y nada menos que el Olympique Lyon, máximo ganador del torneo y actual gran favorito por ser justamente el campeón defensor; a todas estas se presentaba la posibilidad de superar el juego porque la diferencia que obtuvo el Chelsea en la visita a Lyon brindaba la oportunidad no solo de empatar la eliminatoria, sino de hasta superarla; ahora, todo está situación solamente serviría de motivación para el equipo local de demostrar lo buenas que son y así superar a tan duro rival.
Este encuentro estaría lleno de presión para ambos equipos y en mi opinión el Chelsea se vio más afectado por qué quería de cualquier manera no perder este importante juego. El plan de Emma Hayes entrenadora del equipo londinense era justamente preservar el gol a favor conseguido en su visita a Lyon aunque no perdería el esquema 4-3-3 haciendo el equipo más defensivo, aunque era evidente que estaban preparadas para esperar a su rival y en cualquier equivocación, salir al contraataque; un plan válido, pero peligroso porque si hay algo que caracteriza a las actuales campeonas es su calidad y eso se hizo evidente en el primer tiempo aunque con nula efectividad desaprovechando claras ocasiones a su favor.

El segundo tiempo fue casi perfecto para el club local, específico en la palabra "casi" porque faltando 13 minutos para el final, el Olympique Lyon pudo anotar el ansiado gol del empate; un gol que abrió la puerta a nuevas oportunidades como el tiempo extra que debieron disputar ambos equipos para ganarse el puesto a semifinales y en los treinta minutos extra nuevamente el Lyon pudo anotar y así estar cada vez más cerca de unas emocionantes semifinales y de poder revalidar su título, pero el destino les tenía preparada una gran sorpresa y eso fue en el último minuto de añadido (fueron dos minutos que jugaron de más), el Chelsea pudo conseguir el gol que empataba la eliminatoria y llevaba a este encuentro a los tiros penales; cabe destacar que la jugada sancionada cómo penal en mi opinión fue algo controversial porque no veo que el contacto que tuvo la defensora del club francés con Kerr delantera del Chelsea fue tan influyente para la sanción del penal. Los penales son una lotería que depende también de ciertos factores, el principal es que tan preparado está las porteras y las ejecutantes; en esta oportunidad, Berger, portera del Chelsea, demostró valentía, convicción y fuerza, así como lo demostró en la mayoría del tiempo reglamentario porque de cinco chutes al arco que realizó el Lyon, Berger atajo tres y solo recibió dos goles, pero en los penales se hizo fuerte y terminó atajando dos chutes penales, entre ellos el de Renard, capitana del Lyon y capitana de la selección de Francia. Al final tanto el VfL Wolfsburgo y Chelsea pasaron a la siguiente fase, la cual nos dará muy buenos encuentros como son Arsenal vs. VfL Wolfsburgo y FC Barcelona vs. Chelsea CF; estos encuentros se realizarán a finales del mes de abril.
