(ESP/ENG) El Deporte como Refugio Emocional// Sport as an Emotional Refuge

Hi hivers, the practice of sports brings multiple benefits, especially in the physical field, however the mental sphere of the human being is greatly favored when our mind is cleared and even relaxes while we exercise any physical activity.
In my experience in sports psychology I have had the opportunity to hear from the same athletes as before emotional problems that affected them sport has been their escape route.
An athlete who dedicates hours every day to his sports training has achieved in that space not only physical endurance and technical-tactical skills in the sport he practices but also a place to drain their emotions.

Sometimes they come to the training sessions full of anger that erupts during the game for better or for worse.
Others it is a deep sadness that accompanies them and they are even able to let the tears come out when they can't stand it anymore and that's when they stop training to cry.
Many of the athletes I have had the opportunity to talk to, have some emotional problem that affects them and it is through sport that they try to manage it.
I have also had the opportunity to talk to coaches who in their time were athletes and they describe how in the courts, on the tatami mats and in the sports fields there were times when their personal issues affected their sports practice to the point of stopping just to cry.

Sport represents an accumulation of emotions that must be managed, these are typical of the anxiety and pressure to have an optimal performance and the achievement of medals.
And to these emotions must be added those that the athlete carries in that emotional backpack that keeps the family and social experiences.
If it is difficult for us in our daily life to detach the emotions from home to work or vice versa, it is also difficult for the athlete and they bring to the sport practice that affects them, sometimes damaging their performance and that of their team if they are involved in a group sport.

Sport is an essential part of the athlete's life, both physically and emotionally, it is more than looking for the result of a medal, it becomes a life expectation, a space for catharsis and the construction of a future.
