Venezuela en Invierno. Para nadie es un secreto que soy amante del deporte y específicamente de algunas disciplinas deportivas. Sin embargo; cuando se trata de vivir eventos de gran envergadura, sin duda alguna que estoy en primera fila. En temporada de mundiales tanto de futbol como de béisbol; soy una de las personas que no se pierde ningún partido. Igual sucede; cuado llega el momento de disfrutar la hermandad que se vive en los juegos olímpicos. Ahora, sin temor a equivocarme y me corrigen si no es así; existen unos juegos olímpicos que muy pocas personas se dignan a vivir. Hablo de los Juegos Olímpicos de Invierno, por lo menos no me los pierdo porque para mí son lo máximo; ahora, actualmente se celebran del 6 al 22 de febrero los Juegos Olímpicos de Invierno 2026 en Milano -Cortina y atendiendo al llamado de nuestra comunidad 
Es válido pensar, que por ser países que en su mayoría no poseen climas acordes para la práctica de actividades de este calibre, no pueden participar en esa justa deportiva. Bueno; eso no es así, porque existen países que ni siquiera tienen nieve y ha tenido su representación en esos juegos Olímpicos, por ejemplo Jamaica. En el caso de suramérica; me llena de orgullo decir que Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador y nuestra Venezuela, están dando lo mejor por llevar a cabo una participación de lujo. No recuerdo los demás países; pero sé que Ecuador tiene tres participaciones olímpicas consecutivas desde el año 2018 y Venezuela tiene 5 desde Nagano 1998, siendo la primera atleta en participar nuestra Iginia Boccalandro en la disciplina de Luge; de éstas cinco participaciones tengo conocimiento. Ahora; luego de 12 años sin participación olímpica de invierno, nuestro país vuelve a la acción de la mano del atleta Nicolás Claveau Laviolette, quien nos representa en la disciplina de esquí de fondo.

Nicolás es nacido en Venezuela; sin embargo, su crianza ocurrió en Canadá, una persona que pudo haber representado a otras latitudes; pero prefirió ondear con orgullo la bandera venezolana. Su clasificación para estas olimpiadas ocurrió en Finlandia en el 2025; sin embargo, tenía que renovar documentos en Venezuela para poder representarnos y ustedes saben, que actualmente el país atraviesa una situación politica delicada por lo que esa renovación estuvo en peligro; sin embargo, el comité olímpico venezolano se activó y se pudo lograr el cometido para que fuera un hecho la participación de Venezuela en Milano - Cortina 2026.
De verdad que cuando disfruté de la inauguración y el desfile de éstos juegos Olímpicos; me llené de mucho orgullo ver a nuestro único representante junto a su entrenador, pasar en solitario con nuestra bandera bien en alto. No importa la cantidad; sino el hecho de estar presente en esa justa deportiva ya resultaba ser ganador. Aquí se demostró; que nuestra presencia allí, va más allá del tipo de clima y de las fronteras y ver a nuestro atleta, es decirle que no está solo; porque implícitamente millones desfilamos junto a él ese día. Simplemente, le enviamos toda la fuerza para que siga avanzando y pueda alcanzar todas sus metas. Sería maravilloso obtener una medalla en las olimpiadas de invierno, de ser así, sería la primera en la historia; fuerza hermano y sino es posible, sabemos que lo darás todo.
Nicolás was born in Venezuela; however, he was raised in Canada, a person who could have represented other countries, but chose to proudly wave the Venezuelan flag. He qualified for these Olympics in Finland in 2025; however, he had to renew his documents in Venezuela in order to represent us, and as you know, the country is currently going through a delicate political situation, which put that renewal in jeopardy. However, the Venezuelan Olympic Committee took action and was able to achieve its goal of making Venezuela's participation in Milano-Cortina 2026 a reality.
Truly, when I enjoyed the opening ceremony and parade of these Olympic Games, I was filled with pride to see our sole representative, alongside his coach, walking alone with our flag held high. It doesn't matter how many there are; just being present at this sporting event was already a victory. It showed that our presence there goes beyond the type of climate and borders, and seeing our athlete is a way of telling him that he is not alone, because implicitly, millions of us marched alongside him that day. We simply sent him all our strength so that he can keep moving forward and achieve all his goals. It would be wonderful to win a medal at the Winter Olympics. If so, it would be the first in history. Stay strong, brother, and if it's not possible, we know you'll give it your all.
Nuestro atleta venezolano hizo su debut o primera participación el pasado 10 de febrero; lamentablemente quedó en el puesto 88. En esta oportunidad no se pudo avanzar mucho; sin embargo, sabemos que Nicolás lo dió todo y eso es de gran valía para el deporte venezolano. Por mi parte; disfruté de la prueba Sprint clásico masculino, la cual tenía una distancia de 1.5 kilómetros y el resultado ya lo conocen, posición de llegada 88 con un tiempo de 3 minutos, 47 segundos y 29 centésimas a 39.92 segundos del ganador de la prueba; imagínense con ese tiempo de diferencia y llegar en el puesto 88. Esta primera intervención de Nicolás se llevó a cabo en el Estadio de Esquí de fondo de Tesero y de acuerdo a lo que estuve viendo en pantalla, la temperatura estaba bajo los 5 °C, mucho frío; esta prueba la pude vivir de principio a fin.
Lo importante de todo esto; es que nuestro atleta, de acuerdo a lo descrito en el mismo evento fue el participante con menor edad, lo que significa que tiene un futuro grandioso y pronto lo veremos con triunfos superiores. Ahora; solo queda esperar el día de mañana viernes 13 de febrero, donde el atleta venezolano participará en la prueba de los 10 km estilo libre. Nicolás tiene mucha confianza y por lo que pude apreciar en una entrevista corta que le hicieron; se siente muy confiado, ya que la venidera prueba tiene la distancia que corresponde a sus entrenamientos. De verdad esperamos que pueda lograr una buena posición y siga avanzando en esta justa olímpica; el país se merece una medalla, Dios permita pueda lograrlo.
