El Manchester City salió un tanto adormilado a encarar los primeros compases del encuentro; a estas alturas de la temporada y con el Mundial a un suspiro de distancia, se ha hecho notar que la mente de los jugadores, humanos a fin de cuentas, está más puesta en Qatar que en los 90 minutos que tuviesen que estar disputando con su Club. Lo dicho anteriormente, Tooney no va a Qatar y su concentración estaba a pleno en el choque de Etihad.

El juego de posesión de los Cityzens habría de continuar durante la segunda mitad del encuentro, el libreto del partido era el mismo tanto que parecía una radiografía de la primera parte.
