Saludos a toda la comunidad de Full Deportes, para los que me leen siempre, se han dado cuenta lo crítico que estoy siendo con todo lo que suceda en el béisbol cubano, dentro y fuera de Cuba. Hoy finalmente concluyó la actuación de Cuba en la Serie de las Américas, celebrado en Gran Caracas, Venezuela.
El balance de los cubanos fue parejo con 4 victorias e igual número de derrotas, venciendo en la discusión del bronce a Panamá, que tras ser líder en la ronda de todos contra todos, quedó fuera del podio de premiaciones.
Increíblemente todo salió bien
Quizás muchos se sorprendieron al ver fuera del Lineup al granmense Alfredo Despaigne, el mejor bateador designado del torneo. Inicialmente muchos cuestionaban su presencia, me incluyo, pero el hombre respondió con el madero en mano.
Su reemplazo fue el camagüeyano Leonel Moas que no pudieron ponerle out hoy al batear de 3-3 y recibir una base por bolas. En el pitcheo, José Ignacio Bermúdez fue un hueso duro de roer para los canaleros durante 5 entradas, y el relevo de Yusniel Padrón y Frank Abel Alvarez fue completamente efectivo a favor de los cubanos.

Ante Panamá tuvimos un momento de desliz pero nuevamente el bateo hizo lo suyo, y gracias al jonrón de Cristian Rodríguez, pudimos asegurar ese metal bronceado. Queda aún tarea por cumplir pero al menos esta medalla motiva a varios de los peloteros que integraron esta selección.
Próximo reto antes del Clásico Mundial
Al salir de Venezuela, el núcleo de este equipo nacional viajará a Nicaragua para una serie amistosa frente al combinado nacional de ese país. El estadio Dennis Martínez será la sede para estos 5 desafíos, antes de que los cubanos partan hacia Arizona, ya con los peloteros que finalmente integren el equipo al Clásico Mundial.
Los nuestros en suelo norteamericano serán rivales de los Reales de Kansas City y de los Rojos de Cincinnati, que servirá igualmente a esas franquicias como parte del Spring Training.
