LEADERSHIP AND ITS MATTERS AS IT MATTERS
The Concept of Leadership is grossly misunderstood by many. The idea of many regarding leadership is that a leader is one picked or appointed either by lot or selection upon consideration of certain qualities to dish out instructions and watch others follow. This is not entirely true. In some aspects it would be true for dictatorship or autocracy.
But in reality, a leader is one who is selected either by lot or appointment upon consideration of certain qualities to inspire, motivate, harmonize human and material resources for achieving certain goals.
Without leadership, it would be difficult to move forward. Humans are like a unique breed of nature whom if not properly handled may lead to chaos hence the goals and objectives will not be achieved. We cannot over emphasize the benefits of having an organized leadership structure.
EVERYBODY IS A LEADER
In our dealings in one way or the other, we seldom find ourselves in one position or another to carry out a duty or responsibility whether we are assigned same or not. Our ability to carry out that task makes us leaders. We must not be singled out and handed a particular portfolio before we can say one is a leader. In the process of carrying out the task handed to us, we make plans, strategies and think of how to achieve the task. We think of what we need, who can help, how to bring the person in to help, we think of how to acquire the resources we need for the job and several other factors. That is sufficient proof that we are leaders. You need no portfolio before you can be approved as a leader.
THE BEST LEADERS ARE MADE FROM DIFFICULT SITUATIONS
Difficult situations are a motivation, inspiration to make things work. Difficult situations are not easy to fix. They are complicated and one needs serious dedication, efforts to transform the difficult situations. It is people who have faced difficult situations that develop the best leadership qualities. A leader who has faced scarcity of resources, criticisms, hatred, betrayal often turns out to become the best leaders. If you are facing a really difficult situation today, that may be an opportunity to become a great leader tomorrow.
Leaders transform difficult situations into great ones. Though moments, threatening choices to make. But people who stand the test of these situations come out victorious and the best leaders.
CHALLENGES LEADERS FACE
Beneath the mask of Leadership, people who hold leadership positions face serious challenges even beyond what we can describe. The entire load of the group one leads rest on the shoulders of the leader. And even when the leaders carry these burdens, they still have to shoulder the pressure from the people whom they lead. Aside the pressure, they have to cope with criticism, pride, deception, e.t.c.
