Everything was still vivid and fresh in my mind when I first shared HIVE with these amazing teachers of Kal-anan NHS together with some of their friends last December 2022. I remember how captivated and eager they were to embrace the opportunities presented by HIVE.
That was an informal orientation that we did in a small-spaced office. We were only sharing my laptop for the presentation yet I could see their serious faces and genuine interest to be part of the platform. And to summarize the productive orientation we had, these people are now active and enjoying every bit of their journey here on Hive.
Spreading Hive and Expanding Our Community!
July 2023.
It is the last week of this month that we had the final plan for another Hive Orientation that is to be conducted in the school of Kal-anan National High School. Thanks to these incredible Hive Teachers ,
, and
for the initiative and their passion for sharing Hive.
This time it's no longer in the tiny office but in the spacious science lab of the KNHS, no longer the laptop screen but a 55" inch Smart TV that is visible even to the last person in the room, and this is attended by approximately 30 people (onboarders and the participants)!
Such a remarkable growth of Hive in Northern Cebu!
Looking at the venue and the participants and seeing how my onboardees back then prepared so much for this second batch of orientation, for the first time I felt proud and effective of being an Onboarder. (Ahhh I'm teary-eyed.)
The Orientation and the People Behind!
We all know that any orientation or project would be futile without the dedicated and hardworking people and teams that drive it forward. So as one of the Hive Teachers/Bloggers, I am always grateful for these very inspiring individuals; ,
, and
who always spare their time to share Hive every time we invited them as our Resource Speakers and to my Co-Hive Teachers who are always very generous to share for our little Salo-salo (get together and shared meal) during the event.
These people have become my Hive friends and yes my Hive family. And before I get emotional on this blog, allow me to bring you to a run-through of the Hive orientation in Kal-anan National High School and share with you some of the techniques or ways I saw to **successfully and productively have this big group of Hive Orientation.
The Orientation Proper
🎯The orientation commenced lively and interactively. Thanks to @indayClara for setting the mood of the room as energetic as she is! She started with the introduction and a teacher-style of getting to know each other as she lets' everybody speak and share their names and the two things they are passionate about. Yes, she did that!
So here comes tip # 1.
In conducting Hive Orientation, choose a flexible and smart facilitator who knows to connect with the audience. Hive can be overwhelming, better set the mood of the whole room first.
🎯All of the Hive Teachers/Bloggers were then asked to share their journey, how long they had been in Hive, and the wonderful things they experience in Hive which include their earnings or projects and the people they met, and the learnings they acquire. The first who shared was the resident of the school and
which was followed by the rest of the teacher/bloggers.
Here's Tip # 2.
To see and to hear is to believe. It is best that participants hear testimonies and see proof of evidence as to how credible Hive is. If possible, sharers are encouraged to mention things that are relatable to the audience. In our case, we shared the beautiful things that Hive has and how it helps us teachers to improve our writing and the way we socialize with people (not to mention the benefits that come with it.)
The sharing added fuel to the eagerness and interest of the participants. And like us before, they too couldn't wait to experience by themselves the life-changing opportunity Hive has.
🎯After the sharing, it was turn for an in-depth discussion of Hive, leaving no stone unturned. Sir Kim had a complete grasp of Hive, effortlessly explaining every detail and answering all questions with ease from the Hive blockchain, ecosystem, and all other Hive activities that are possible to discuss in the given time. And yes he aced it!
Tip # 3.
Bring someone who can give extensive knowledge and expertise to the table. Everything becomes credible and authentic when you hear it coming from the seasoned individual
🎯After sir Kim's thorough discussion, it's and
's time to explore and elaborate furthermore on Hive, the PeakD interface, the Hive wallet, the Do's and Don'ts of Blogging, and the rest of the Basics of Hive. At first, we were having trouble with the internet connection but indayclara and Intoybugoy were able to fill the gap.
Tip # 4.
Always have those facilitator / Resource speakers who are well-versed about the topic "with or without" the Powerpoint presentation.
When everything was tackled, the floor was then open for the question and answer portion. Participants could raise their questions and clarification about Hive. This part was very interactive, in fact, one of the participants list down all her questions that were clearly and satisfyingly answered by Sir Kim, Indayclara, and Intoybugoy.
Its Salo-salo time!
We knew that Big Orientations or any seminars like this could be exhausting and overwhelming to both participants and the Speakers so we made sure to prepare some food and snacks for our lunch!
We, the Hive Teachers contributed a part of our blessings received for 6 boxes of pizza, 4 pieces of Lechon Manok, and 4 bottles of 1.5L soft drinks. Thanks to for the free Buko Lamaw, and to Maam
for the free hanging rice and her delicious baked cookies!
We also shared the pizza and the Buko with the participants. So while they were listening they were also enjoying their snacks!
Do I have a tip for this one? Ahh, not necessarily but I can share a quote.
A full stomach is a full mind.
Another comprehensive and interactive Hive Orientation ended successfully. I believe the seed that we planted today will soon bear fruit. I am one of the happiest to be able to share Hive with others, especially with other teachers. I am certain that we will not spread and expand Hive in the North, but also in the South!
If you also plan to share Hive with your friends and colleagues I hope you will find the tips useful, well you don't have to follow everything but at least it will serve as a guide for you.
Thank you so much for reading. I wish you all safe and well always.
Don't forget to smile often.!🤗😍
