INTRO
This post follows up on a challenge issued by when I published “Analytical Power at HIVE” (see comments).
To start with, I use the various front-ends available on HIVE for different purposes. I like aspects of all of them and enjoy using them depending on my needs (and “using” doesn’t just mean posting). I don’t have a favorite. There’s room for all of them, as it allows for more choices.
Since I don’t appreciate exclusivity, I take the liberty of using all the available ones. If there were more, I’d use more. Besides, I always remember my late father’s advice: “never have just one supplier, never have just one customer, never have just one dealer.”🤭
ABOUT HiveSuite
One of Portugal’s greatest poets, Fernando Pessoa, wrote a Coca-Cola advertisement in 1920 that read, “First it seems strange, then it grows on you,” when the drink was being introduced in Portugal.
“First it seems strange” → the taste (or the experience) causes an initial sense of strangeness. “Then it grows on you” → over time, it becomes familiar and even addictive. In other words, habit transforms perception.
This is how, based on my experience (and perhaps that of many others), I describe HiveSuite. An alternative front-end, another available option, which does not use DHF funding, being supported by the investment of its creator and his team.
The word “Suite” immediately brings to mind a collection of features and tools that are all at your fingertips. Or rather, all in one place. The list is extensive and deserves a separate discussion. However, I’ll focus on what I like most and what sets it apart from all other front-ends.
INTERFACE
The interface is clean, minimalist, and inspired by Peakd. On the right side of the page, clicking on your avatar opens a tab with the essentials: My Profile, Inbox, Notifications, My Videos, My Chat, My Templates, Favorites, and Users I Ignore.
It’s precisely in My Profile where something different starts to take shape. All the information available on the user’s profile: blogs, posts, snaps, comments, replies, activities, portfolio, and other features that are only available in specific analytics tools. I’d highlight Growth.
Now, here’s the trick: none of these features are fixed. All of them can be configured and arranged according to your preference. I don’t think any other front-end does this (correct me if I’m wrong).
But wait, there’s more. When you click on “Rewards,” a tab opens that transparently shows how the rewards are broken down. Brilliant. Does any other front-end do this so thoroughly? Let me know in the comments, because I’m asking a question, not making a statement.
In a previous post, I had the opportunity to introduce hSnaps, which lets you view all four microblogging platforms on the same screen and post to all of them through hSnaps. Not only is it convenient, but it’s also great for curating short posts.
TOOLS AND UTILITIES
On the left side of the interface, when you tap the three dashes, a new tab opens featuring: Blogs, Snaps, Communities, Videos, Shorts, Map (inspired by WorldMappinn), and 23 available games. Wow, fantastic for gamers.
Under the “Governance” section, you’ll find the Witnesses and DHF proposals, all presented in an organized and straightforward manner.
Settings
There are new features here as well. You can choose between English and Spanish, and customize the menu order. This is also where you can customize the user profile tabs I mentioned earlier.
What I liked most was the voting precision system, which offers intervals of 0.25%, 0.5%, and 1%. It’s great for fair curation. Well thought out. A feature I don’t think exists in other interfaces.
Often, when we’re not used to an app, we get frustrated when something goes wrong. Before blaming the system, check and change the Hive API Node. That’s often the problem. Here in HiveSuite, there are 11 available.
Mobile Version
It’s beautiful, with an elegant font. You get the feeling that everything related to HIVE is right there on your smartphone screen.
Translation
I don’t see the need for this front-end to have an AI-powered translation service, as Peack and Ecency do—for example. In the mobile version, if you install it via a BRAVE extension, it translates directly into your language.
CRITICAL ISSUES
I don’t have the technical expertise to confirm whether the errors are caused by the system or by me. Especially since I recently changed all my passwords and have disconnected a lot of things—what works on my smartphone doesn’t work on my PC. So, I’ll just list what went wrong for me.
Vertical images (thumbnails)
In my previous post, the image doesn't appear in HiveSuite. It displays correctly in the other front-ends. I've already reported the issue. In this case, it actually works well—it fits the context of the post: the horizontal alignment of images.
Blogs: Trending – Hot – New
When we select “new” posts, scrolling back takes us back to Trending. This isn't ideal when you're curating content and want to scroll through the same feed.
Mobile Version
The ACTIVITIES don't link to the posts. I'm not sure if this is just my issue, because the blue link color is there.
💡SUGGESTIONS
- HIVE, HBD, and BTC prices in the header
Staying in a suite requires a long-term commitment. For a trader—or anyone waiting for the right moment to buy or sell—it’s important not to have to leave the suite to get that information. Take a look at the simulation I created. That doesn’t mean it will turn out exactly like this.
- Custom notifications
The ability to choose 10 users (for example), who could be replaced by others, so that when they post, we can receive a notification immediately. I don’t know if it’s possible, but I think Claude can do it.
This is so you can be one of the first to vote, before the orcas and whales. There are advantages to this, and it should be used as a strategy.
CONCLUSION
Just as I began this post, I want to continue using all the front-ends that HIVE offers. I don’t want exclusivity; I need them all.
However, I also wouldn’t like to see exclusivity on the part of those who run the front-ends. In other words, (blatantly) favoring only users who exclusively use that front-end.
This creates a form of favoritism that I don’t like and that has nothing to do with the (excellent) Proof Of Brain narrative. A narrative that is the essence of this digital asset called HIVE.
