Lately, it seems like every other day, a new project is launched on the Hive blockchain. It's always interesting to see what new things people build on the blockchain as the ecosystem continues to grow.
A few days ago, I wrote about the ACE Predict platform that was launched by the Inleo or Leostrategy team. While reading the comments for that post, someone recommended that I check out Hive Predict which was also relatively new on the blockchain.
Later on while I was just browsing and engaging in Hive content, another post popped up about sportsblock.app which immediately caught my attention, and before thinking about it any further, I clicked to read the article to see what it was.
The article stated that sportsblock.app was a sports prediction platform built on the Hive blockchain and since I love sports, my interest was immediately sparked. Without any hesitation I signed in to check it out to see what the platform looked like and frankly speaking, what I saw did exceed my expectations in a way.
At first I was expecting to see a simple sports prediction platform where one can place prediction on matches, but while looking through the platform, I discovered that Sportsblock is more than just a sports prediction platform and it's actually a full-fledged sports themed Hive social platform. It's being developed by two of Hive's prominent users and builders and
.
You can pretty much do everything you usually do on the Hive blockchain on sportsblock.app. You can create posts and publish to communities, engage with other users, comment on their posts and upvote content just like on any other Hive frontend. Everything worked well and the interface looked very clean.
What caught my attention was the "Sportsbites" which was the section for short posts. It was designed for posting your short sports opinions and updates on any sports event. It was sort of like the short-form content from other social media platforms but for sports discussions.
However, the most significant part of sportsblock.app was the sports prediction market.
As at the moment I was checking, a free sports prediction contest was already underway and anyone was allowed to participate. The pool consists of 200 HIVE and 5,000 medals as prizes to the final winner.
The prediction contest was quite simple but very interesting. One football team needs to be picked by each participant to win their fixture of the week, and the last participant left at the end of the football season wins the prize pool. Losing or drawing a match leads to elimination.
And the most interesting thing is that participation in the contest was absolutely free. No payment is required from participants to join the competition. It was just a contest for sports fans.
Apart from the free contest, there were other prediction markets that users could engage with, but to be able to place a bet in any of those prediction markets, a user has to buy Medals which was the prediction tokens used in the platform. Users would first need to buy medals using some of their hive before placing bets.
The minimum amount to place a bet on a prediction market was 10 medals.
Being a football lover and an ardent fan of Manchester City, the platform was very interesting and looked like it was the perfect place for me to share all my football related news and discuss matches with fellow sports fans on Hive. Instead of just watching football games and discuss them outside of Hive, sportsblock.app serves as the perfect platform for sports lovers on Hive to gather, discuss and bet on the outcome of football matches.
If you are a lover of football and sports, sportsblock.app is worth checking out. You can share your sports related content on Sportsbites, engage with sports enthusiasts and if you're confident in your prediction skills, you could test your luck in the free prediction contest. And who knows? You might be the last person standing at the end of the season with the prize money.
