Happy 4th Anniversary to me!
Ok so I know is the 11th already but! Today when I woke up all excited for my Hivebday I was sidetracked by something and it made me want to take a moment away from the chain and just breath and let go… lol but, 4 years are 4 years I needed to celebrate especially with all I had manage to accomplish takes to Hive, all I have done and reach and all that I still want to do and goals I'm still working towards.
I read about the #MyHiveStory created by on a post by
, is a simple but awesome way to tell a summarized version of my long Hive journey so, I decided to make it for this special day, if you want to read Snook post and make your own you can go here.
Let's begin…
1. How long have you been on the Blockchain?
Well, today I have reached the 4 years mark, 53 moons or 1460 days.
I have manage to make my Hive power grow over the 9536 mark all organically from my rewards and in these 4 years have been able to not do a power down which make me really proud, since I live in Venezuela with our economical crisis this is really a hard thing to do so it makes me proud. Also to be able to have remain be active for all this time with almost my nonexistent internet connection is amazing.
2. What was your background in Cryptocurrency when you first came to the blockchain?
None like I have heard about bitcoin cause obviously duh! but I didn’t know anything about it at all, I was actually scared lazy to learn.
3. What was your background in writing when you first came to the blockchain?
Well, I had just finished law school in my country so, I had a good writing background cause when you are a lawyer you need to read and write a lot but nothing professional for any kind of blogging or journalistic of any kind.
And to add to my lack of writing in any kind of blogging platform experience, English is not my 1st language so, writing in this language even tho it helps me practice my knowledge of it was a risky thing to do with all my grammar and spelling mistakes lol.
4. How many people did you know when you first came to the Blockchain?
0 Well, even tho it was my brother-in-law who introduce me to the blockchain, he isn’t actually in it, he just happens to see some vids talking about it and share the info with me. So, I didn't know anyone here, it was pretty intimidating.
5. How did you meet people when you first came to the Blockchain?
The same way I think every Hiver has through Discord lol, back in the day we didn’t even have the chat as we do in PeakD, and to be honest when you first listen about the blockchain Discord is almost always attached to the info.
As any new user, I didn’t know it would be best to actually interact on the chain and comment on other people's posts (I suck at commenting since the day I created my account).
6. Who did you look up to when you first came to the blockchain?
2 amazing women who I still look up to, to this day: and
, I have learned so much from them both, and not only about how the blockchain works but in general they are just amazing.
Best people in the whole blockchain you can find for sure.
7. How would you describe your first three months on the blockchain?
A roller-coaster of emotions, I was excited and scare, then I got this BIG upvote from a dapp that was call dmania for a meme I created so that was amazing but then got this dried spell on me that was depressing, then I got pregnant and that changed things DRASTICALLY (got pregnant within 10 days of joining so... The chain got me pregnant).
you can read my intro post here and see the awesome meme that got me my first big upvote here. to be honest I have no idea how that meme got that upvote cause it wasn't that good
8. Has being a part of the blockchain changed you in any way for the good?
OF COURSE, YES! I mean it has taught me so much in so many ways, not only I have gained this knowledge about things I didn’t know before, it has teaching me to be more social, it has allowed me to save money and have better control over how I handle my finances, it has made have more responsibility.
But I have to say the best change in me that Hive has managed it give me a passion for something to do. In this case creation and curation of content.
9. What is your favorite memory from your time on the blockchain?
I have a lot of awesome memories,
- The first huge upvote I got of course has to be mentioned, is not only about the money is about reaching that milestone that is so hard to get some time and I managed to do it in the first few days and back then it was HARD really, really hard to actually accomplish a big upvote organically.
- When my baby was born and I was able to complete the money to pay for my c-section with what I had made from my rewards on the chain.
- When I bough my first car thanks to my earnings from Hive. You can read that post here
But my favorite memory so far is the way the whole community joined together to fight for our believes and freedom and that ended up creating Hive
10. If you could give advice to a new person signing up to Hive what would it be?
I usually give talks to new users and give a lot … a LOT of advice because Hive is not easy (is not difficult either but…) it has its tricks. But the most important advice I can give to a new user is Get to know the blockchain, be consistent, be original, have patience, work hard and do networking.
Is pretty important for new users to actually get to know what Hive is, to know the whole blockchain and not just 1 dapp or 2 since this will allow you to explore more than one option to be successful.
You have to keep trying, not expect to be successful overnight, some people may accomplish this on the first day but most have to try again and again to start being noticed by curators and the community in general.
Be original and I'm not only talking about the whole not plagiarize content part, that, of course, is important, but when I say be original is try and do what you like in the way you like and feel comfortable in but at the same time be different bring something else to the chain make people want to consume your content.
Having patience can go hand and hand with the consistency part, you need to keep trying and don't give up just because you didn’t make it on the first few posts, you need to be patient this is not an overnight kind of thing.
You need to work hard, low effort won’t get you anywhere, and even if you see a low effort post getting rewarded you need to know most of the time those users do a lot of background work you may not know about.
Hive is a social blockchain, so you need to be social, do networking but like with everything you need to be smart about it, is not just to find a BFF is to get to know other users learn about them and what they do on the chain, get to know the witness, learn about the people behind the curation’s projects and different dapps, be social, be part of the community, interact be part of the discussion and that will help you get to places and be known.
