A little while ago GW brought out Faction Packs and I wrote about them Here: GW Brings out Faction Packs. An improvement but still has gaps.
This was the new evolution of 10th edition rules of Warhammer 40k, which has been an edition that would receive many updates to both core rules and army rules as time went on. They would even introduce new units and characters for both narrative and tournament play from time to time.
All the Indexes have now gone and all faction now use their Codexes and now: Faction Packs.
The Faction Pack contains only the rules for the additional rules not found in the Codexes, as well as Errata/FAQ, and the Legends Datasheets.
So the plan is to go back into Datasheets for Codexes to review now, starting at the oldest Codex that was released as those would be most likely to be given a 11th Edition in 2026! Yes... a NEW Edition is coming for Warhammer 40k... "Summer 2026".... which I think means Summer for the Northern Hemisphere.
I will, for now, skip doing any reviews for Legends. There are enough Datasheets in the Tournament valid game as it is!
So the order of release and therefore the order of my reviews shall be as follows:
Space Marines - September 2023
Tyranids - September 2023
Adeptus Mechanicus - November 2023
Necrons - November 2023
Dark Angels - February 2024
T'au Empire - March 2024
Adeptus Custodes - April 2024
Orks - April 2024
Chaos Space Marines - May 2024
Genestealer Cults - June 2024
Adepta Sororitas - June 2024
Imperial Agents - August 2024
Blood Angels - October 2024
Aeldari - February 2025
Astra Militarum - February 2025
Emperor's Children - April 2025
World Eaters - May 2025
Death Guard - May 2025
Thousand Sons - May 2025
Choas Knights - June 2025
Space Wolves - July 2025
Black Templars - August 2025
Grey Knights - August 2025
Leagues of Votann - August 2025
Imperial Knights - September 2025
Drukhari - October 2025
I do not know of any further release schedules as this time.
I shall do a re-run of the Faction Rules and all Detachment rules because some of them have been altered since my last review and to keep it all together.
So I shall begin again with the Space Marines.
They have a their Faction Rule, plus 11 Detachments (the most of any army I am sure), and they have 97 Datasheets.
BTW, they also have 76 Legends Datasheets! (More than most but again... sidelined for now.)
So this is the Plan:
Faction Space Marines - The Rule, the Review and a bit about how it operates in the game. 1 post
All 11 Detachment Rules, each has rules, Enhancements, Stratagems. They can be quite resource intensive. 11 posts.
Then the 97 Datasheets. 97 Datasheets.
That makes for a total of 109 Posts for Hive. 50% of the Post Rewards will be shared with , which is my Hobby Fund account. The savings there... and possibly the Savings Interest eventually, will be used to build the biggest Warhammer 40k Imperial army ever... I have some goals and aspirations there!
See you soon!
