For a long time I wanted to try to make a necklace pendant from scratch. I have seen on social networks some that call my attention especially because they are made with crystals and are interwoven with thread so that the crystals are superimposed and the result is incredibly beautiful. I wanted to make something like this, but for Rafaella, so I chose several beads from a necklace that broke some time ago and I got down to work.

Quería hacer algo así, pero para Rafaella, así que elegí varias cuentas de un collar que se rompió hace un tiempo y me puse manos a la obra.

To begin with, I think you need to choose slightly smaller beads for a more delicate dige. This one I think was too big, and you also need to have small beads for ornamentation. I think I lacked them, it would have looked nicer.

Para empezar creo que es necesario elegir cuentas un poco más pequeñas para un dige más delicado. Este creo que quedó muy grande, y también hay que disponer de cuentas pequeñas para ornamentación. Pienso que me faltaron, habría lucido más bonito.

Let's go to the details of the process. In a 1 meter nylon thread I introduced the 4 plastic beads and tied them forming a square. Then through one end of the thread I introduce a bead taking it towards the center, I tied the end of the thread, it is necessary to tighten it but not too much so that it does not sendesforme the figure, that happened to me and I had to move several times the beads to release the tension of the thread.

Vamos a los detalles del proceso. En un hilo nylon de 1 metro introduje las 4 cuentas plásticas y las amarré formando un cuadrado. Luego por un extremo del hilo introduge una perla llevándola hacia el centro, amarré el extremo del hilo, es necesario ajustarlo pero no demasiado para que no sendesforme la figura, eso me pasó y tuve que mover varias veces las cuentas para liberar la tensión del hilo

Now we pass an 8mm Murano glass through the end of the thread and place it at the junction of the two large beads. We will place four crystals, one at each junction and we do this by passing the thread in the middle of the larger beads. When we place the last one, we tie and cut the excess.

Ahora pasamos un cristal de Murano de 8mm por extremo del hilo y lo ubicamos en la unión de las dos grandes cuentas. Colocaremos cuatro cristales, uno en cada unión y lo hacemos pasando el hilo en medio de las cuentas más grandes. Al colocar la última, amarramos y cortamos el excedente.

We already have the dige, now it's time to figure out how to place it on a necklace. Simple, with a lark's knot. We pass both ends of the thread that we will use for the necklace through the middle of the dige placing it behind a murano glass. Then we pass both ends back through the hole that has been formed with the thread and pull both ends. I confess that I had several failed attempts to place the thread, it was not pretty, and I spent more time trying to solve this than in the whole process, so I determined that sometimes the simple is not only for convenience, but also the most attractive.

Ya tenemos el dige, ahora toca resolver como lo colocamos en un collar. Simple, con un nudo alondra. Pasamos ambas puntas del hilo que usaremos para el collar por el medio del dige ubicándolo por detrás de un cristal de murano. Luego pasamos de vuelta ambos extremos por el orificio que se ha formado con el hilo y tiramos de ambos extremos. Les confieso que tuve varios intentos fallidos al colocar el hilo, no quedaba bonito, y pasé más tiempo tratando de resolver esto que en todo el proceso, por eso determiné que a veces lo simple no es solamente por conveniencia, sino también lo más atractivo.

I placed two beads with a painted wooden bead in the middle and repeated the pattern on the other side. I closed this part with Franciscan knots to prevent the stones from sliding up the bead.

Coloqué dos perlas con una cuenta de madera pintada en medio y repetí el patrón del otro lado. Cerré esta parte con nudos franciscanos para evitar que las piedras se desplacen hacia arriba del cordón.

The necklace is finished with a two slip knots, which are nothing more than Franciscan knots tied with the ends of the thread. Each knot is made by twisting several times on the base cord forming a spiral loosely and then inserted into the end through the center of the spiral and tightened. The excess is cut off and sealed.

El collar está terminado con un dos nudos corredizos, que no son más que nudos franciscanos techos con los extremos del hilo. Cada nudo se hace girando varias veces sobre el cordón base formando un espiral sin apretar y luego se introduce en el extremo por el centro del espiral y se aprieta. Se corta el excedente y se sella.

One more necklace for Rafaella. Two in a row, she can't complain. Now I have to think about what to do to Carlos because beyond wanting some accessory, it is a competition for my attention and for that and I have to constantly work on maintaining the balance, because I confess that I tend to do more things for my daughter and it is just easier, but Carlos can feel that they are more signs of affection for her and less for him.
