Creo que la madera me extrañaba jeje , desde la última vez estaba buscando esas oportunidades para comenzar de nuevo a crear algunos colgantes y seguir sumando a mi colección. En ésta oportunidad hice pedante de un balón de voleibol en madera de cedro , en realidad es algo sumamente sencillo que cualquiera lo puede hacer y les voy a mostrar aqui lo fácil de éste paso a paso...

They say that time is money and it is a reality that we experience day by day between the different responsibilities we have in front of us. I am one of those who likes to have a space to get creativity going with art, it is a way to release tensions and it is something I really enjoy just like sports, I always say that as long as I can I will live in that.
I think the wood missed me hehe, since the last time I was looking for those opportunities to start again to create some pendants and continue adding to my collection. This time I made a cedar volleyball pendant, actually it is something very simple that anyone can do and I am going to show you here how easy it is step by step....

Siempre que inicio un trabajo de esta índole me gusta hacer un boceto del diseño y el tamaño de lo que quiero, es importante porque es más fácil corregir el papel que hacerlo directamente en la madera, donde un error puede frustrar tu proyecto.
Escogí hacer un pequeño colgante de un balón de voleibol y medí dos centímetros de diámetro para que no quedara muy grande y ordinario.
De hecho me pareció muy chistoso y curioso sus dimensiones.
Whenever I start a job of this nature I like to make a sketch of the design and size of what I want, it is important because it is easier to correct the paper than to do it directly on the wood, where a mistake can frustrate your project.
I chose to make a small volleyball pendant and measured two centimeters in diameter so that it wouldn't be too big and ordinary.
In fact I found its dimensions very funny and curious.
El espesor de la madera es de medio centímetro, inicié marcando el balón de acuerdo al diseño del boceto. Trabajar la madera lleva su tiempo ya que es un material consistente y cortar, marcar y dar forma no es algo que se hace en un segundo. Pero con algunas herramientas es mucho más fácil el trabajo, mi aliado para éstas manualidades son el dremel , lija y cúter.
Hice cortes cerca de los bordes del diseño del círculo y posteriormente con una lija gruesa y el dremel fui consiguiendo lo redondo del balón.
The thickness of the wood is half a centimeter, I started by marking the ball according to the design of the sketch. Working with wood takes time as it is a consistent material and cutting, marking and shaping is not something that is done in a second. But with some tools the work is much easier, my ally for these crafts are the dremel, sandpaper and cutter.
I made cuts near the edges of the circle design and later with coarse sandpaper and the dremel I got the roundness of the ball.
De acuerdo a la disciplina, cada balón tiene una capa de recubrimiento diferente y también el diseño es característico del mismo, la costura del balón de voleibol es como tiras entrelazadas. Para mí hacer éstas lineas en la madera utilicé una punta diamantada y fui pacientemente siguiendo las líneas del boceto.
According to the discipline, each ball has a different coating layer and also the design is characteristic of it, the seam of the volleyball ball is like intertwined strips. To make these lines on the wood I used a diamond tip and patiently followed the lines of the sketch.
Después de calar las líneas utilicé una lija número 1000 y con agua lijé toda la superficie del balón hasta conseguir que quedara bien prolijo. Es importante lijar con agua para evitar rayar la madera , la idea es proteger las hermosas betas que tiene la corteza.
After drawing the lines, I used a number 1000 sandpaper and with water I sanded the entire surface of the ball until it was very neat. It is important to sand with water to avoid scratching the wood, the idea is to protect the beautiful grains that the bark has.
Para conseguir un mejor acabado también aplique crema para pulir madera, aplique una capa y con un trapo de algodón comencé a pulir.
To get a better finish I also applied wood polishing cream, applied a layer and with a cotton cloth I began to polish.
Apliqué dos capas de brillo y protección de aceite teca, se rocía un poco y dejamos que la madera absorba, luego pasamos un trapo limpio de algodón.
Me hubiese gustado tener barniz para mayor brillo. Ésto me recordó que debo ir a la tienda jeje
I applied two coats of shine and protection of teak oil, sprayed a little and let the wood absorb, then wiped with a clean cotton cloth.
I would have liked to have varnish for greater shine. This reminded me that I should go to the store hehe
Finally, place a metal support to hang the pedant and thus show it around your neck as a garment for my favorite sport: volleyball.
