Greetings friends. The other day I was watching a documentary about marine animals, being the protagonist of this documentary the seahorses.
It is interesting the life that these animals lead, one of the things I saw in the documentary is that these seahorses choose a partner and will always be with her, something that I found very tender and worthy of note.
Thinking about this, I wanted to make a nice charm inspired by a seahorse.

Saludos amigos. El otro día estuve viendo un documental de animales marinos, siendo el protagonista de dicho documental los caballitos de mar.
Es interesante la vida que llevan estos animales, una de las cosas que ví en el documental es que estos caballitos de mar escogen una pareja y siempre estarán con ella, algo que me pareció muy tierno y digno de destacar.
Pensando en esto, quise hacer un lindo dije inspirado en un caballito de mar.
Step by step
Being a pendant, I had to use flexible dough, since it is a resistant material that can last in time.
In addition to the flexible dough, I also used wire and paint for this work, since being a seahorse, it would need a good wire support to keep its shape without being damaged.
Paso a paso
La ser un dije, debía utilizar masa flexible, ya que es un material resistente y que puede perdurar en el tiempo.
Además de la masa flexible también usé alambre y pintura para este trabajo, ya que al ser un caballito de mar, este necesitaría un buen soporte de alambre para que mantuviera su forma sin dañarse.
Notice that I cut a small piece of wire for the base, made a curved shape at the bottom for the seahorse's tail and bent it at the top for the head.
Fíjense que corté un trocito de alambre para dicha base, le hice una forma curveada en la parte inferior para la cola del caballito de mar y doblé en la parte superior para la cabeza.
I used this shape as a base and on top of this wire I placed the flexible dough I needed. I started shaping it quite thick in the center and much thinner at the bottom and top.
At the bottom, as you can see in the picture, it has a curved shape that I also lengthened with more flexible dough.
Usé esta forma como base y encima de este alambre coloque la masa flexible que necesitaba. Comencé a moldearlo bastante grueso en el centro y mucho más delgados en la parte inferior y superior.
En la parte inferior, como pueden observar en la imagen, está tiene una forma curveada que también alargue con más masa flexible.
After making the body continue with the head.
It has a pointed shape but a little flat at the tip, besides being much bigger at the back.
In addition to making this shape I made a couple of fins on the sides for what would be the character's fins.

When it was finished, I nailed this piece to the body of the seahorse, using the small piece of wire to hold it in place.
Al terminarla clavé esta pieza en el cuerpo del caballito de mar, valiéndome del trocito de alambre para que este se sostuviera en su lugar.
To give a little texture to the body of the character I used the tip of a knitting needle and started making small horizontal holes along the body of the fish, following a few vertical lines that serve as a pattern.
Para darle un poco de textura al cuerpo del personaje usé la punta de una aguja de tejer y comencé a hacer pequeños agujeritos horizontales a lo largo del cuerpo del pez, siguiendo unas cuantas líneas verticales que sirven de patrón.
Before the flexible dough dried, I took another piece of wire with a ring so that it could hang from the pendant. This piece of wire went practically all the way through the body of the seahorse.
Antes de que la masa flexible se secara tome otro trocito de alambre con argolla para que pudiera colgar al dije. Este trocito de alambre atravesó prácticamente todo el cuerpo del caballito de mar.
As an additional accessory for this pendant, I made another kind of ring that would be attached to the ring I mentioned above.
This new ring, which I covered with flexible dough, would be used to hang on the necklace chain. I also made some decorative lines in the flexible dough to give the pendant a better look.
Como un accesorio adicional para este dije, fabrique otra suerte de argolla que se uniría con la argolla que mencioné anteriormente.
Esta nueva argolla, que cubrí con masa flexible, serviría para colgar en la cadena del collar. También en la masa flexible hice algunas líneas decorativas para darle mejor apariencia al dije.
This took only one night to dry. After the piece hardened the painting process began.
I wanted to use marine colors, but decided in the end to use black as a base color, since it is a neutral color that will always serve this purpose, as a base.
Este tardó tan solo una noche en secar. Después de que se endureció la pieza comenzó el proceso de pintado.
Quería usar colores marinos, pero decidí al final usar el color negro como base, ya que es un color neutro que siempre servirá para este propósito, como una base.
Later, with the dry painting technique, I used the gold color to give it that interesting effect that you can see in the image below.
Posteriormente, con la técnica de pintado en seco, usé el color dorado para darle ese efecto tan interesante que pueden ver en la imagen de abajo.
