Aunque el año ya termina yo sigo queriendo aprender cosas nuevas, hace un tiempo descubrí el chainmaille es una técnica de tejido en cierta forma, pero con argollas, se crean patrones que generan estructuras, una muy conocida es la cota de malla, hay muchas formas ya que depende de la cantidad de argollas, el tamaño y como se vayan uniendo.
Yo tenía algunas argollas que compré cuando tenía un emprendimiento y tenía ganas de practicar un poco esta técnica, vi muchos tutoriales y la verdad es que es bastante difícil, obviamente al ser algo nuevo me cuesta más entender, así que guie por el patrón más simple que encontré.
Even though the year is ending, I still want to learn new things. A while ago, I discovered chainmail, which is a weaving technique, in a way, but with rings. Patterns are created that form structures; a well-known example is chainmail. There are many variations, as it depends on the number of rings, their size, and how they are joined.I had some rings that I bought when I had a small business, and I wanted to practice this technique a bit. I watched many tutorials, and honestly, it's quite difficult. Obviously, being something new, it's harder for me to understand, so I followed the simplest pattern I could find.
No encontré un nombre porque hay varios y mi fuente de investigación fue tiktok y pinterest jajaja así que si quiero aprender el contexto histórico de esto tendré que investigar de verdad, pero este patrón como vamos a llamarlo ahora es el más simple, se unen dos argollas grandes con una chica entre medio.
I couldn't find a name because there are several, and my research source was TikTok and Pinterest, hahaha, so if I want to learn the historical context of this, I'll have to do some real research. But this pattern, as we're going to call it now, is the simplest: two large rings are joined with a small one in between.
Así que empecé a armar la cadena, la idea es la siguiente serán dos cadenas que se unan con otras argollas entre sí, pero como son muchísimas será solo medio cuello, la otra mitad voy a usar una cadena ya armada.
So I started putting together the chain, the idea is that there will be two chains that are joined together with other rings, but since there are so many of them, it will only be half a neck, for the other half I'm going to use a chain that's already made.
Me tomó mucho tiempo encontrar una forma rápida de hacerlo, abrir las argollas más chicas no era buena idea, lo óptimo es abrir las grandes, meter dos de las pequeñas y así, después se une otra grande a la pequeña y se suma otra pequeña.
It took me a long time to find a quick way to do it; opening the smaller rings wasn't a good idea. The best way is to open the large ones, insert two of the small ones, and so on. Then, another large one is joined to the small one, and another small one is added.
Hice esto hasta obtener mi primer media cadena, son unas 18 grandes y unas 9 pequeñas, un paquete de argollas suele traer 150 y son muy económicas, cuando las compré salieron menos de 2 dólares, así que es económico.
I did this until I got my first half chain; it's about 18 large and 9 small ones. A package of rings usually contains 150 and they are very inexpensive; when I bought them they cost less than $2, so it's economical.
Hice una segunda media cadena también con el mismo método, esta me tomó menos tiempo y fui reciclando otras argollas que tenia de viejos aretes y cosas que empecé y nunca terminé.
I made a second half chain using the same method; this one took me less time, and I recycled other rings I had from old earrings and things I started but never finished.

Once I had my two chains, the slightly slower part began, which was joining them together with the small rings.

Once I had them joined, I added another large ring to each end. This is to attach the chain that will close it; this chain is thicker and is leftover from another chain I had made for the business.
Esto es bastante simple y queda super lindo para usar y es un poco corto porque quiero que quede calzado en el cuello, pero le di un poco de largo para que no se sienta como un ahorque.

Voy a seguir practicando otros tipos, pero desde los más simples, quizás también tenga que utilizar otro tipo de argolla más gruesa para hacer esto, pero tengo que sentarme a investigar un poco más, por el momento es un gran entrenamiento para hacerme nuevos accesorios que sean diferentes, cuando tenga nuevos progresos iré compartiendo.
I'm going to keep practicing other types, starting with the simplest ones. I might also need to use a thicker ring for this, but I need to sit down and do some more research. For now, it's great practice to make new and different accessories. I'll share my progress as I make it.
