At the medieval castle of Blandy-les-Tours (Part 1)

Here we are in Blandy-les-Tours, ready to explore its impressive fortified castle. Built between the 13th and 14th centuries, it has stood the test of time, gradually evolving from a simple fortified manor into a true medieval stronghold, complete with towers, curtain walls, and moats.

Owned by the Seine-et-Marne department since 1992, the castle underwent a major restoration project that brought back its former glory. It reopened to the public in 2007 and is now one of the few remaining medieval castles still visible in the Île-de-France region.

While waiting for it to open to visitors in the early afternoon, we take a leisurely walk around the exterior. A perfect moment to soak in the atmosphere, admire the architectural details, and imagine what life might have been like here centuries ago.

Nous voici à Blandy-les-Tours, prêts à découvrir son impressionnant château fort. Édifié entre le XIII^ème et le XIV^ème siècle, il a traversé les âges en évoluant progressivement : d’un simple manoir fortifié, il s’est transformé au fil du temps en une véritable forteresse médiévale, avec tours, courtines et douves.

Propriété du département de Seine-et-Marne depuis 1992, le château a bénéficié d’un vaste chantier de restauration, qui a permis de lui redonner son allure d’antan. Il a rouvert ses portes au public en 2007, devenant l’un des rares châteaux forts médiévaux encore visibles en Île-de-France.

En attendant l’ouverture au public prévue en début d’après-midi, nous en faisons tranquillement le tour. L’occasion de s’imprégner de l’atmosphère du lieu, d’observer les détails de l’architecture et d’imaginer ce que pouvait être la vie ici, il y a plusieurs siècles.
