Hace poco se presentó un evento muy importante, realmente, muy especial 💗 pero no sabía que ropa llevarme. Debía ir vestida formalmente, así que opté por llevarme un vestido, el detalle es que el vestido es unicolor y lo veía muy simple. Me gustaba como me quedaba y pensé que al llevarlo con unos zarcillos largos que me resaltarán sería suficiente. Sin embargo, seguía pareciéndome muy simple y pese a mi escasez de creatividad se me ocurrió la idea de añadirle unos botones que tenía guardado para darle un poquito más de vida al vestido.
Como ya mencioné, no tengo mucha creatividad y en ocasiones suelo pedir ayuda para estas cosas, no obstante, en esta ocasión decidí hacerlo yo misma sin buscar ayuda.
A very important—actually, very special—event came up recently 💗, but I didn’t know what to wear. I had to dress formally, so I decided to wear a dress, but the thing is, it’s a solid color and looked very plain to me. I liked how it fit, and I thought that pairing it with some long earrings that would make me stand out would be enough. However, it still seemed too simple to me, and despite my lack of creativity, I came up with the idea of adding some buttons I had saved to give the dress a little more life.
As I mentioned, I’m not very creative, and sometimes I ask for help with these things; however, this time I decided to do it myself without asking for help.
Lo primero que hice fue seleccionar los botones. Estos estaban guardados en un archivero desde hace muchos años. Por supuesto, no tenía ni idea de para que servirían pero se presentó la oportunidad y los busqué. Al principio tenía muchas dudas con respecto a cómo colocarlos, no sabía si quedaría mejor de forma horizontal o vertical. Luego de hacer un par de experimentos, decidí colocarlos horizontalmente y siento que fue la mejor opción.
The first thing I did was pick out the buttons. They had been stored in a filing cabinet for many years. Of course, I had no idea what they were for, but the opportunity arose, so I went looking for them. At first, I wasn’t sure how to arrange them; I didn’t know whether they would look better horizontally or vertically. After trying a few different layouts, I decided to arrange them horizontally, and I feel that was the best choice.
Comencé a coser 🪡 coloqué el primer botón en todo el medio del vestido en la parte de la cintura. Mientras los hacía, recordé un dicho popular que dice: "Esto es más fácil que pegar un botón". Lo cierto es que a mí no me parece fácil pegar un botón porque de verdad soy muy torpe con mis manos y con todo lo que tiene que ver con manualidades pero no desistí, continúe renovando mi vestido. No tomé ninguna medida, de botón a botón hice un calculo a vuelo de pájaro y poquito a poco iba viendo la diferencia. Lo bueno es que me estaba gustando el resultado 🥳
I started sewing 🪡 and sewed the first button right in the middle of the dress, at the waist. As I was doing it, I remembered a popular saying that goes, "This is easier than sewing on a button." The truth is, I don’t find sewing on a button easy because I’m really clumsy with my hands and with anything to do with crafts, but I didn’t give up; I kept working on my dress. I didn’t take any measurements; I just estimated the distance from button to button as I went along, and little by little I could see the difference. The good thing is, I was liking the result 🥳
A pesar de mi nula experiencia en renovaciones y decoraciones me atreví a darle un pequeño accesorio a este vestido y me fascinó el resultado. Me percaté de que no debo ser la mejor diseñadora ni la.mejor confeccionadora para hacer algo bonito y esto me subió el ánimo. Mi vestido simple y sencillo se ve más elegante con estos botones y por supuesto me lo coloqué para ir al evento.
Parece muy sencillo pero cuando tenemos una idea sembrada en la cabeza es muy difícil arrancarla. Yo pensaba que no podía hacer nada al respecto con este vestido pero no fue así y lo descubrí porque me atreví.
Se siente súper genial hacer las cosas uno mismo. De ahora en adelante me esforzaré por poner a trabajar mi cerebro para que aprenda a ignorar la ideas negativas que se han sembrado a lo largo de los años, a saber, que no soy buena con la creatividad. Es hora de demostrarme que si lo intento lo voy a lograr.
Despite having zero experience with renovations and decorating, I decided to add a small detail to this dress, and I loved the result. I realized that I don’t have to be the best designer or the best seamstress to create something beautiful, and that really lifted my spirits. My simple, plain dress looks more elegant with these buttons, and of course, I wore it to the event.
It seems very simple, but once an idea is planted in your head, it’s very hard to get rid of it. I thought I couldn’t do anything about this dress, but that wasn’t the case, and I discovered that because I dared to try.
It feels absolutely amazing to do things yourself. From now on, I’ll make an effort to put my brain to work so I can learn to ignore the negative ideas that have been planted over the years—namely, that I’m not good at being creative. It’s time to prove to myself that if I try, I’ll succeed.
