Bienvenidos a un tutorial de remodelación de ropa.🧵/Welcome to a clothing remodeling tutorial.
Happy and beautiful afternoon, friends of
! It's a pleasure to greet you and be with you here, starting the year and almost finishing the month. It's been a while since I've shared a project with you, whether sewing or crafts. This time, I want to show you how to attach patches and how I added patches to my jeans that I bought secondhand. I really liked the jeans because the fabric is somewhat thick. A friend who sells secondhand items in her shop showed them to me, and I wanted to see if I liked them since I always like to buy things in good condition and secondhand from her, so without thinking twice, I bought them.
The only downside to these jeans was that they had a very large opening in the front, and although I don't dislike them, I honestly felt that the pants could tear much more if I continued wearing them like that. So, what I came up with was to put patches on all those areas where they could tear, thus preventing them from looking open. I found a variety of denim scraps in my fabric basket that I had from other projects. Remember that we seamstresses always have a container full of fabrics for anything; even if we don't use them all, we always need small scraps like this for some garments we want to mend.
Pasos a seguir: | Steps to follow:
Paso 01
Step 01
I started using my seam ripper, which I'm loving because it helps me quickly cut the threads of each garment. In this case, we're going to open the pants where we only see one seam, because most pants come with seams that are reinforced on top and it's a little harder to unpick them. In this case, I unpicked them from the inside so that it would be easier for me to sew the patches.
Paso 02
Step 02
As a next step, I've already opened the entire piece of pants along the sides, that is, on the inside. Now we're going to place our first patch, and we'll position it where we see the biggest opening in our pants. If the denim patch you get is large, we'll baste it with a needle and thread to prevent it from shifting while sewing. This is very important because it's a bit difficult to sew this part when it's only open on one side of the pants. We'll do this with all the patches, sewing them by hand until we cover all the holes we want in the pants. I didn't sew the patches perfectly with a needle and thread because this is only to hold them in place. I think it was easier to do it this way since with pins they might come loose or shift. You can work however you find most comfortable.
Paso 03
Step 03
Here I started sewing along the edge where I basted a little less of the hand stitching inwards. I did this with all the patches, trying to sew them well with a straight stitch. If you prefer to reinforce it more, it is preferable to make another straight stitch.
Paso 04
Step 04
After sewing them, all that remained was to seal the part we had previously opened on the side edge of the pants, also with a straight stitch, and reinforce it with a zigzag or overlock stitch. In this case, I used a zigzag stitch since I only had size 12 needles. Once I finished sewing it, I ironed it to give it a better finish.

This is how my pants turned out. I hope you liked how easy it is to add denim patches to your pants that you want to fix this way. I also hope the tutorial was helpful, and don't forget to save and share it for when it's useful to you. Greetings, I love you all, thanks for visiting.
