Painting a Mini Temple For our Dungeons and Dragons Game
Greetings friends, I hope you are enjoying your new year season. In the meantime, I decided to paint a little mini for the dungeons and dragons game we play with my friends. Today I'm going to tell you about a project that will take an hour on average. Of course, consider it as after it comes out of the 3d printer. Otherwise, the printing time is much longer.
This mini is a mini that should not be painted in detail. This is a piece that doesn't need this. As for the story, it will be a temple they found on the side of the road. They will have a chance to rest in it, but at night they will realize why the temple was abandoned.
First of all, let's look at the temple that I printed out from the 3D printer and has been waiting on the side for a long time. Honestly, it's been so long since I printed this... It was only today that I was able to use and enjoy it.
Materials
- The building you want to paint
- Spray Black Paint
- Mask for protection from spray paint
- Acrylic White Paint
- Acrylic Metallic Gray Paint
- A large thick brush
- A good playlist to listen to for an hour
First of all, I painted around my temple beautifully with black spray paint. In this way, I both shaded it and created a ground for the acrylic paints, which I will go over with a dry brush a little later, to hold and stay for a long time.
There is an important point here. Remember to use a mask when using spray paint. It is harmful for your lungs.
Then you start applying the paints in order, WITHOUT RUSH. The important point is, the trick is, the paint must be dry on your brush.
It's called the dry brush technique.
If you try to paint everywhere and go deeper, you will also apply paint in between and in the shadows, so the three-dimensional image will be lost.
That's why you need to paint with a DRY BRUSH.
After you take the paint, dry it well on a piece of toilet paper and slowly, without rushing, let the edges of your temple catch the paint. Do not paint. Let the brush move around and pick up the paint where it needs to be picked up in the temple.
You need to repeat this process several times as you can see in the pictures. In many parts of the temple there are protrusions and indentations that catch the paint. Thanks to these, it will look natural.
Final Result
TL;DR
- First paint the building you want to paint completely with black spray paint, spraying it so little that the paint does not flow in the depths.
- Then, using a dry brush technique, apply a coat without rushing.
- Then apply your second and third coats using white and gray until you are satisfied, again using the dry brush technique.
- Be careful not to get in between.
and ready for presentation! I hope my friends will discover this temple in the next dungeons and dragons board game and we will have a nice adventure.
As you can see, it's a project finished in an hour and since it's a mini, it doesn't need much detail.
Thank you very much for reading. Happy New Year 🤗
