Christmas is the time of the year that I enjoy the most because the atmosphere is so special that inspires us to share with our loved ones. It is a time where special food recipes mark the aromas of this time of the year, but it also makes us decorate our home with details that make us live this season to the fullest.
Today I want to share a nice Christmas centerpiece made with natural pine branches so you can enjoy a beautiful, original decoration with that delicious aroma of pine.
In these months, the pine trees in the forest near my house begin to give off an attractive aroma. Their branches are so leafy that it is wonderful to see them in their natural habitat.
Although I am not in favor of cutting trees, in my house, we have an artificial Christmas tree. Nevertheless, it is inevitable to want to feel that pine scent typical of natural trees in my home.
One way to bring the scent of pine into my home is to buy wreaths made from pine boughs. Local gardeners gather some branches and skillfully weave them into wreaths. I always buy them and year after year I decorate them. But this year was different. While visiting the plant store, I found some beautiful Christmas pines made from branches of this tree. I decided to buy one and decorate it with some recycled ornaments I have at home.
Throughout my son's school years, there have been leftover materials whenever he did crafts. I have a couple of boxes with lots of things like bits of yarn, colored ribbons, colored balls, frosting and lots of other things. So I took all this stuff out of the boxes and selected a few things that I could use.
I must confess that my husband and I love to drink wine. Every time we open a bottle, I keep the cork. It has caused me to have a lot of corks in storage, so I thought this is the best opportunity to use them by making a craft with them.
To make this christmas table centerpiece. you must have on hand:
Scissors
Cutter blade
Liquid silicone
Pieces of wool
Frost
star-shaped sequins
paper clips
wine corks
colored balls
led lights
Next I am going to show you how to make some cute ornaments to decorate the Christmas tree. These ornaments will be made with wine corks.
The first thing to do is to cut the corks into half-centimeter slices.
Place each cork circle on a flat surface and cover with a few liquid silicone. Carefully place the tip of a strip of wool in the center of the cork and begin to roll it up, pressing little by little until the entire surface of the cork is covered. Cut off the excess wool.
Take the piece of cork covered with the wool and soak it in the silver frosting. It will give it a nice touch of glitter. Finally, place a dot of liquid silicone in the center and glue a sequin. In this case, I used star-shaped green sequins.
To be able to insert this ornament into the centerpiece tree, we will place a clip on the back. Open a paper clip and glue it to the cork circle with a generous amount of silicone and let it dry.
As you can see, we can make a delicate ornament that we will place in our Christmas centerpiece. I chose white wool to simulate snow and give contrast to the green color of the pine tree.
To decorate the Christmas tree, the first thing I put up are the LED lights. These lights are great because the bulbs are small and can be easily tucked into the branches. These lights are battery-operated, so there is no need for an extension cord attached to the centerpiece, as this detracts from the visibility of our ornament.
Carefully distribute the colored balls and wine cork ornaments all over the tree.
If you look closely, I also placed a white ribbon around the wooden base of the centerpiece. It gives it a flirty and delicate touch.
Once the Christmas centerpiece is over, you can find a special place in your home to surprise your friends and family.
Well, the cost was what I paid for the pine base made with natural branches. The rest of the materials (including the silicone) were leftovers from my son's school crafts.
I hope this way of recycling some things you have at home to decorate your house this holiday season can motivate you to create beautiful things and share them with us on the blockchain.
