Hi everyone, I welcome you to my blog, happy new year to you all.
I opened my own shop around December, it hasn't been easy but I am pushing through, still trying to gather customers and I still appreciate the few ones I have got, one of my little customer that lives not far from my shop that I made a trouser and shirt for,she was pleased with it. When she wore it she came to show me, she has actually seen this style on me, so she told her mum she wanted it.
The procedure goes thus:
The first thing was the taking of measurement of her full body. To make free trousers, I drafted the pattern directly on my fabric using waist , hip and thigh measurements, I cut the front with pocket space and allowance for ease, then I placed the front on the back, I added extra two inches to the back.
Materials Needed
Fabric (I used 2 trousers)
Elastic (waist measurement minus a few inches)
Sewing machine, thread, pins, measuring tape, scissors, Tailor's chalk
The first thing I joined was the pocket, then I sew the front and back sides, after which I joined the crotch and the thigh, I created an elastic casing at the waist by gently folding the fabric so it won't cover up the pockets
Measurements & Marking:
Waist/Hip: I made the waist and hip divide by 4 with allowance.
Crotch Depth: For the crotch depth the easiest method is hip divided by 4 with at least 2 inches allowance taking into consideration the elastic casing, the crotch should not be too long and too tight to show the beauty of the trouser.
Length: her trouser length is 34 so I added extra two inches for folding
Leg Shaping: I marked the thigh/knee and connect to the ankle, ensuring the back is wider than the front for the bum. Note: the extra 2 inches I added to the back is for the freeness
I joined all these markings directly on my folded fabric to cut it out.
After I was done with the trouser, I cut the shirt.
For the shirt I folded into four, the neck depth for the back will be smaller than the front, I made the width 2 and half inches. I measured out the waist and bust and it's free, I added 3 inches, when I was done with the back, I placed it on the front, why I prefer cutting it separately is because of the button hole allowance, after I am done with the back I will refold for the front and add 2 inches allowance for the button then notch so I can fold from the notch side when sewing.
Then I cut the sleeve, her round sleeve is 10 inches, I made the sleeve length 12 inches, 1 inch for folding the tip, I measured the armhole on the shirt to cut it on the sleeve which is 14 allround with joining allowance.
Thanks for checking on my blog, so have a lovely day ♥️
