Hello, everyone. As you know, I have a Pokémon collection on my blog. I’ve made several first-generation Pokémon figurines, and it’s a real pleasure to show you another one. In fact, this is one of the cutest Pokémon: Lapras.
I cordially invite you to take a look at the creative process behind this figurine.

Saludos amigos. Como bien saben, tengo en mi blog una colección de Pokémon. He hecho varias figuritas de Pokémon de primera generación y es todo un gusto presentarles otra de las figuritas. De hecho, esta es una de los Pokémon más bonitos, Lapras.
Los invito cordialmente a ver el proceso creativo de esta figurita.
The materials I used for this figurine were as follows:
- Wooden popsicle sticks
- Modeling clay
- Wire
- Glue
The first thing I did was cut the wooden popsicle sticks into small pieces, as shown in the image below, so they could serve as sturdy stuffing for Lapras’s body.
Los materiales que utilicé para esta figurita fueron los siguientes:
- Paletas de madera
- Plastilina
- Alambre
- Pegamento
Lo primero que hice fue usar las paletas de madera y cortarlas en pedacitos así como ven en la imagen de abajo, de tal forma que sirviera como un relleno resistente para el cuerpo de Lapras.
Between each layer of wooden sticks, I used glue to hold them in place and create a solid core. After the glue dried, I used black modeling clay to cover the wood and shape Lapras’s body and its four fins.
Entre cada capa de paletas usé pegamento para que estas se fijaran y crearan un relleno macizo. Después de que secó el pegamento, usé plastilina de color negro para cubrir la madera y dar forma al cuerpo de Lapras y sus cuatro aletas.

On top of the black body, I used more blue modeling clay to cover the black clay, completing the final shape of the Pokémon's body. I didn't cover the back, as you can see in the image below, because that's where I'll attach this character's shell.
Encima del cuerpo de color negro, usé más plastilina de color azul para cubrir a su vez esta plastilina negra, para el acabado final del cuerpo del Pokémon. No cubrí el lomo, como pueden ver en la imagen de abajo, porque ahí colocaré el caparazón que tiene este personaje.
I continued with the neck and head, then covered both the fins and the abdomen of the figurine with light-colored modeling clay, as shown in the image below.
Continué con el cuello y la cabeza, luego tanto las aletas como el abdomen de la figurita lo cubrí con plastilina de color piel clara, tal como se ve en la imagen de abajo.

I moved on to the ears and that horn it has, which I made using the same blue modeling clay. Then I made the eyes, which I made a little bigger, following the same style I’ve been using for the Pokémon in this collection.
Proseguí con las orejas y ese cuerno que tiene, los cuales hice con la misma plastilina de color azul. Luego le hice los ojos, los cuales hice de un tamaño un poco más grande por la misma forma en que he estado haciendo a los Pokémon de esta colección.

So I assembled all the parts that make up the Pokémon, using wire for the limbs and glue to make the joints more secure. Then I attached the shell to its back, which you can also see in the image below.
Así pues uní todas las piezas que forman parte del Pokémon, usando alambre en las extremidades y pegamento para dar más firmeza a las uniones. Luego le coloqué en el lomo el caparazón que ven también en la imagen que está aún más abajo.
And with that, the figurine was finished. Below are a series of photos showing the final result:
