Como siempre, tengo muchas cosas que hacer y, pues, decido compartir varios de mis procesos con ustedes, aunque no sean la octava maravilla. Estos stickers los hice para mi mejor amiga, a quien le encantan los cuervos y, al mismo tiempo, el color rosa pastel. Sí, lo sé, bastante contrastante, igual que aquellos aspectos que conforman su genial personalidad.
Hello, good morning everyone! I hope you are all doing very well today. Welcome to my post. This time, I didn't create anything too novel. As always, I have many things to do, and I decided to share several of my processes with you, even if they aren't the eighth wonder of the world. I made these stickers for my best friend, who loves crows and at the same time, pastel pink. Yes, I know it’s quite contrasting, just like those aspects that make up her amazing personality.
La verdad he estado un poco desmotivada estos últimos días por situaciones que no sé explicar con claridad. Creo que solo he estado abrumada, necesitando tiempo de descanso mental y tiempo para recuperarme de ciertas frustraciones que a veces marcan mucho mi manera de pensar y de ver las cosas.
The truth is that I've been a bit unmotivated these past few days due to situations that I can't explain clearly. I think I've just been overwhelmed, needing some mental rest and time to recover from certain frustrations that sometimes heavily influence my way of thinking and seeing things.
De cualquier manera, al final, ya que no busco hundirme más, no lo pienso mucho. Me levanto, hago cualquier cosa y eso me ayuda a volver al flujo de la vida con mejor ánimo y sin tanto agotamiento mental.
Anyway, in the end, since I don't want to sink any deeper, I don't think about it much. I get up, do anything, and that helps me get back into the flow of life with a better mood and less mental exhaustion.
También últimamente he olvidado el hecho tan simple de disfrutar las cosas, de hacerlas por pasión o satisfacción, en lugar de hacerlas más por apuro o necesidad... Cosa que me ha estado drenando mucho. A veces me gusta alejarme y replantearme por qué estoy haciendo ciertas cosas de cierta manera, si me sirve o no, y qué puedo hacer para mejorarlo o cambiarlo. Incluso estaba haciendo contenido para Hive muy automáticamente, sin esencia o alma... Y creo que no soy mucho de hacer las cosas así todo el tiempo o muchas veces. Es por ello que con este post, de alguna manera, estoy volviendo a mi centro y dejando de buscar tanto afuera lo que yo necesito cultivar dentro.
Also, lately, I've forgotten the simple fact of enjoying things—doing them out of passion or satisfaction, instead of doing them more out of urgency or necessity... which has been draining me a lot. Sometimes I like to step back and rethink why I'm doing certain things in a certain way, whether it serves me or not, and what I can do to improve or change it. I was even creating content for Hive very automatically, without essence or soul... And I don't think I'm one to do things that way all the time or very often. That’s why with this post, in some way, I'm returning to my center and stopping the search outside for what I need to cultivate inside.
Sin más preámbulo, después de haber hecho un acto total de catarsis, les dejo los materiales y el procedimiento.

• MATERIALES • ✨🎨 • MATERIALS •
- Una hoja de papel de reciclaje.
- Pinturas al frío: negra, gris, morada, rosada, blanca, amarilla y verde. (Los colores que no son el negro, el blanco y el gris van a depender de qué colores ustedes quieran utilizar para ciertos detalles como flores, fondos y demás).
- Lápiz de grafito.
- Roller, delineador, estilógrafo o marcador de punta fina.
- Lápices de colores: gris, blanco, amarillo, morado.
- Papel manteca que tengan de algún papel contact que ya hayan usado.
- Cinta adhesiva transparente gruesa.
- Tijeras.
- Algún utensilio o herramienta para hacer círculos.
- Imágenes de referencia, porque en este caso los dibujos de los cuervos "cutes" no son de mi autoría; son de una dibujante/artista con tremendo estilo: @Rayleearts. Estas imágenes las encontré en su perfil de Pinterest, pero también la pueden encontrar en Instagram con el mismo usuario.
- A sheet of recycled paper.
- Cold paints: black, gray, purple, pink, white, yellow, and green. (The colors that are not black, white, and gray will depend on which colors you want to use for certain details like flowers, backgrounds, etc.)
- Graphite pencil.
- Fine-tipped pen or marker.
- Colored pencils: gray, white, yellow, purple.
- Parchment paper from any contact paper you have already used.
- Thick transparent adhesive tape.
- Scissors.
- Any utensil or tool for making circles.
- Reference images because in this case, the cute crow drawings are not my own; they are from an artist with an amazing style: @Rayleearts. I found these images on her Pinterest profile, but you can also find her on Instagram with the same username.
• PROCEDIMIENTO • 🎨🖌️ • PROCEDURE •
Como siempre, yo inicio tomando la hoja de papel y haciendo círculos a grafito en la misma para delimitar el espacio en el que voy a ubicar los dibujitos de cada uno.
As always, I start by taking the sheet of paper and making graphite circles on it to outline the space where I will place each little drawing.
Seguidamente me armo de mis poderosísimas imágenes de referencia o mi envidiable creatividad para empezar a plasmar los bocetos en cada espacio. Hablando de eso, debería empezar a practicar dibujar de nuevo porque me tardo demasiado haciendo cualquier cosa.
Next, I arm myself with my powerful reference images or my enviable creativity to start sketching in each space. Speaking of which, I should start practicing drawing again because it takes me too long to make anything
Una vez terminados los bocetos llega la hora de empezar a pintar. A mí me gusta pintar primero y entintar después, pero ustedes pueden hacerlo como mejor se les acomode.
Once the sketches are finished, it’s time to start painting. I like to paint first and then outline, but you can do it however suits you best.
Yo inicio con ciertos colores base que van en varios dibujos; comencé por los picos y patas de los cuervos pintándolos con un pincel delgado y pintura gris.
I begin with certain base colors that go on several drawings. I started with the beaks and feet of the crows, painting them with a fine brush and gray paint.
Que por cierto, hace poco me compré unos pinceles liners y estoy agradecida con la vida, la Matrix, porque son hermosos y desde que los compré me han ayudado demasiado a hacer detalles ridículamente pequeños cuando pinto, tanto para la porcelana fría como para cualquier cosa.
By the way, I recently bought some liner brushes and I'm grateful to life/the Matrix because they are beautiful and since I bought them, they have helped me a lot to make ridiculously small details when I paint, both for cold porcelain and for anything else.
Lo siguiente que hice fue pintar los fondos de cuatro de los cuervos. Originalmente eran amarillos opaco, un tono de dorado, pero como a mi amiga le gusta mucho el rosa pastel, decidí pintar los fondos de ese color. Aunque al principio quería ponerles verde, al final me decidí por utilizar el rosa para que fueran más acordes a sus gustos. También pinté algunos detalles de uno de los cuervos que tiene una bandera y una mochila en rosa pastel.
The next thing I did was paint the backgrounds of four of the crows. Originally, they were opaque yellow, a shade of gold. But since my friend really likes pastel pink, I decided to paint the backgrounds that color, even though at first I wanted to use green. In the end, I chose to use pink to make them more in line with her tastes. I also painted some details on one of the crows that has a flag and a backpack in pastel pink.
Con el mismo pincel delgado pinté de color lila la corona de flores que tiene uno de los cuervos y una ramita de flores que tiene otro en el pico... No sé bien si son glicinias o lavandas, pero se ven hermosas igual.
With the same thin brush, I painted a lilac flower crown that one of the crows has and a little flower twig that another one has in its beak... I'm not sure if they are wisterias or lavenders, but they look beautiful anyway.
Ahora viene el característico color negro de estos animalitos asociados con la oscuridad.
Now comes the characteristic black color of these little animals associated with darkness.
Yo decidí utilizar pintura al frío negra diluida en un poco de agua para pintar el mango de las cuchillas, para que fueran de un negro grisáceo o leve. Para este proceso utilicé el liner más delgadito que tengo porque era necesario dejar espacios en blanco para dejar estas especies de líneas blancas en la silueta de la cuchilla. Posteriormente pinté las cuchillas de blanco y algunos detalles de trazos en el cuerpo de los pájaros.
I decided to use diluted black cold paint in a little water to paint the blades' handles so that they would be a grayish black. For this process, I used the thinnest liner brush I have because it was necessary to leave white spaces to create these kinds of white lines in the silhouette of the blade. Subsequently, I painted the blades white and added some detail strokes on the birds' bodies.
Llegó el momento de pintar los ojos; yo suelo hacerlo con la parte trasera de un pincel. Lo remojo en pintura blanca y quedan círculos bastante precisos. Es un tip práctico.
It was time to paint the eyes. I usually do this with the back of a brush; I dip it in white paint, and it creates pretty precise circles. It’s a practical tip.
Le quité los trazos excedentes de grafito con una goma de borrar.
I removed the excess graphite lines with an eraser.
Y para acabar el proceso de pintado, hice los iris de los cuervos con el mismo método anterior utilizando pintura negra. Hubo algunos que no salieron tan perfectos, pero logré corregirlos con ayuda del liner.
To finish the painting process, I made the irises of the crows using the same previous method with black paint. Some didn’t turn out so perfect, but I managed to correct them with the help of the liner.
Afinamos detalles con los lápices de colores, principalmente con el blanco para aquellas zonas con líneas o tallos blancos que no quedaron tan perfectos. Luego, para el ojo de uno de los cuervos amarillos, detalles brillantes y profundidad en las flores moradas, y un poco de sombra en las cuchillas de las navajas con el color plateado.
Now we refine details with colored pencils, mainly with white for those areas with lines or white stems that didn’t turn out so perfectly. Then, for one of the yellow crows' eyes, I added highlights and depth to the purple flowers, and a bit of shadow on the blades with silver paint.
Ahora, con mi pulso de maraquera, voy a entintarlos todos. Con mucho cuidado, de izquierda a derecha, porque si no hay lugares en donde el roller suelta mucha tinta y no se seca; al no darme cuenta, termino esparciendo la tinta por todos lados con el dorso de mi mano.
Now, with my steady hand, I'm going to ink them all. Carefully from left to right because if not, there are places where the roller releases too much ink and doesn’t dry, and without realizing it, I end up spreading ink everywhere with the back of my hand.
Los recortaremos como más nos guste; a mí me gusta bastante seguir la silueta del dibujo. Siento que los hace tener una estética bastante prolija y limpia.
We will cut them out as we like; I really enjoy following the silhouette of the drawing as it gives them a very neat and clean aesthetic.
Y ahora sacamos una cantidad apropiada de cinta y vamos a ir pegando los dibujitos, como si fueran insignias en una bandana.
Now we take an appropriate amount of tape and start sticking the little drawings on it as if they were badges on a bandana.
Quedará una cinta llena de stickers que adheriremos al papel manteca y que posteriormente cortaremos alrededor, obviamente dejando espacio suficiente en el contorno del sticker para que este pueda adherirse al lugar en donde lo queramos colocar. A este sí pudieran recortarlo circular, cuadrado o como les guste porque al fin y al cabo no es la silueta del dibujo sino la del adhesivo; y como es transparente, no se nota casi nada ni hace ningún tipo de ruido visual o interferencia.
It will result in a strip full of stickers that we will adhere to parchment paper, which we will then cut around, obviously leaving enough space around the sticker so it can stick where we want to place it. You can cut it circular, square, or however you like because after all, it’s not about the silhouette of the drawing but rather that of the adhesive, and since it’s transparent, it hardly shows or creates any visual noise or interference.
Y ahora sí tenemos nuestros stickers. A mí me pareció re fácil y ahorro algo de dinero al hacerlo con la cinta y el papel manteca que ya tenía en casa, en lugar de comprar papel contact o papel adhesivo doble faz.
And now we have our stickers! It seemed really easy to me, and I saved some money by using tape and parchment paper that I already had at home instead of buying contact paper or double-sided adhesive paper.
Sé que muchos pueden pensar: "¿pero por qué no solo los imprimes y ya?" Y la verdad, tienen razón; es mucho más práctico. Pero a mí me ayuda mucho a ejercitar mi dibujo, mi trazo, mis habilidades para pintar. Además, puedo tener la satisfacción de que quedó un resultado muy propio y muy bonito hecho con mis propias manos, de mi tiempo, mi energía, mi paciencia y mi cariño... A veces las cosas que se hacen a mano tienen incluso más valor y significado que las que se compran, porque implican muchas más cosas y se le invierte mucho más que dinero.
I know many might think, "Why not just print them out?" And truthfully, they're right; it’s much more practical. But for me, it helps a lot to exercise my drawing skills and painting abilities. Plus, I get the satisfaction of having a very personal and beautiful result made by my own hands, with my time, energy, patience, and love... Sometimes things made by hand have even more value and meaning than those bought because they involve much more than just money.
